competitive play help

By thebigeb2589, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I got a bunch of ships for Christmas so I'm looking to shake up my competitive lists with my local store championship coming up. Please critique this hard I want to make this work. I think pulling a 4 ship list in a 2 and 3 ship meta can be helpful (more shots to take per turn) and I really want to incorporate both yt's for their large amounts of hull and shield. Biggs will die, he is there to draw shots off of the 1300 (a very heavily washed blue and grey paint job, real beat looking ship I call her "Flawless"). Vrill was picked for his poly skill not his ability and the Tala is there for the extra shots but my thought is should I scrap the tala for the 13 points and spend it else where? My ships are all in my sig the a and b wing are from aces and the two interceptors are from aces as well so you know what cards I'm dealing with

So here is the list

(99/100)

=================================

X-wing: Biggs Darklighter (25 + 0)

YT-2400: Eaden Vrill (32 + 0)

YT-1300: Outer Rim Smuggler (27 + 2)

+ Mercenary Copilot (2)

Z-95: Tala Squadron Pilot (13 + 0)

Edited by thebigeb2589

Or would this be a safer bet scrap Biggs and beef the yt's spend the extra on the tala for an extra shot each turn?

(100/100)

==============================

YT-1300: Chewbacca (42 + 7)

+ Lone Wolf (2)

+ Lando Calrissian (3)

+ Mercenary Copilot (2)

Z-95: Tala Squadron Pilot (13 + 0)

YT-2400: Eaden Vrill (32 + 6)

+ Gunner (5)

+ Tactical Jammer (1)

To be honest I'm worried about fighting a swarm list which is why I'm trying to avoid two ship build. I've seen a decimator removed from the table first turn of shooting by an academy tie swarm it was horrifying

If you use Eden you'll want to team him up with ships that cause stress, Perhaps a B-Wing with a tactician, or equip a ship with Flechette Torps. It's almost worth Losing the Mercenary Co-pilot and upgrade Eden to Leebo. If you want. However...

Depending on your flying capabilities, I have ran a Dash/Han list. It's currently 4-1 right now.

Han Solo: (46 +11) = 57

Preadator (3)

Enigne Upgrade (4)

Nien Numb (1)

Lando, Crew (3)

Dash Rendar: (36 + 7) = 43

Push the Limit (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Total: 100

I know it's only 2 ships, But Han will most likely be the main target (Use this to your advantage). Engine Upgrade is there to help him arc dodge more, plus he has his ability plus Predator so he doesn't need to use an action. Nien Numb is there for lists built around stress. Basically helps him get the hell out of dodge while removing stress. (Nothing is better than a straight green 4 + Engine boost). Lando is there for those higher PS skill pilots that are hard to get out of arc, if you need him.

While they are busy trying to Fight Han, Dash is out there dodging arcs and getting in range 1 (Remember it's still 3 Attack Dice). Plus it's even more of a bonus if they start going after Dash when Han decides to get the hell out of their.

If you want to use Eden, My friend has used him with 2 B-wings with Tacticians and Flechette Torps. and it's very effective.

What really worries me here is the lack of damage output. Biggs has 3 dice with his primary attack but he's also the primary target by default. After he's gone you may have two turrets but you only have 2 dice ships to attack with meaning 36 points of Academy Pilots have as much firepower and a higher likelihood to evade your attacks.

how are you using predator on Han? Is it really worth the points? Hans ability says he has to reroll all dice possible so if you did his ability first you couldn't use predator since you can't reroll a dice a second time

I find having preadator on Han works wonders. Most of the time I roll 1-2 hits with my attack dice and always debating weather or not to re-roll them all or not. It's true if you want to use Han's ability you can't use predator, but in a tight situation where you have, say 2 out of 3 attack dice and you want to deal maximum damage, would you use hans ability?? Probably not, that is where Predator comes in, if you only want to re-roll a single dice or 2 in some cases it's there. Hans ability is mostly there if you fail to roll any hits because with predator you only re-roll 1-2. Plus if your engine boosting away yur not getting Focuses so Focus result are kinda useless, unless you activate Lando. Even then you may not get any Focus.

Didn't think of it like that. Since my how for the two yt's was there durability doors this look better?

B-wing: Dagger Squadron Pilot (24 + 7)

+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Z-95: Lieutenant Blount (17 + 6)

+ Assault Missiles (5)

+ Munitions Failsafe (1)

YT-2400: "Leebo" (34 + 12)

That certainly packs a lot more punch. I will note that Munitions Failsafe on Lt. Blount is a complete waste of points; MF needs a miss to be effect and Blount NEVER misses although there may be times he 'hits' for zero damage.

Put determination on Leebo instead of fail safe on the Lt.

Has the Leebo/Determination interaction ever officially been sorted out?

That is to say that when Leebo is dealt that face up card is the second card he draws also being considered dealt? I suspect that is should be which means Leebo gets two chances to see a Pilot card which Determination should then be able to get rid of.
