Ok well since I am kind of new to the game. During a game I was playing with my son. He had y-wing with ion cannon and the HWK-290 with blaster cannon. He attacked with the ion cannon and hit. We both weren't sure when he attacked with the HWK-290 with blaster cannon would I be able to roll my defense dice since my ship was hit with ion in that same round. Oh and my ship had the lower pilot skill he had the higher skill on both ships.
Ion token
Ion does not prevent you from rolling defense dice... all ion is doing is actually taking away your next move...
Edit: to be more precise, it takes away your movement dial for the next round and you perform a straight 1 manoeuvre then you remove the ion token, but attack (and action) as normal...

Worth noting only small ships are affected by 1 ion token. If a large ship gets 1 ion token, it just keeps it until it gets a second then it suffers the ion effect on the following turn.
