Any Success with New Scum?

By AdOzzel, in Star Wars: The Card Game

I put together my first Scum Capture deck using objectives from BtS:

The Hunters x2

The Tatooine Crash x2

The Slave Trade x2

The Findsman's Intuition x2

Carbonite Transport x1

Masterful manipulation x1

Hive of Scum and Villainy x1

It works OK and has synergy, but Mono-Jedi was owning it. I played two games with this build against Mono-Jedi and had the same problem in both games: not enough resources and not being able to handle the sheer amount of mains the Light side deployed on table.

Has anyone been having success with Mono-Scum, capturing or not? Is it viable against Mono-Jedi?

My capture build splashes Sith for The Investigation and Cruel Interrogations, so it's not exactly mono-Scum, but it's certainly not a traditional Sith/Scum build either. I would highly recommend it, if only because Ysanne Isard gives Jedi fits.

I will be trying a mono-Scum Black Sun build next week, however, and I'll let you know how it works out.

Toggle just posted his mono-Scum build from the Grand Rapids, MI store championships over on cardgamedb (I'd link, but posting from my phone).

Just won a game today (by decking) when my opponent used My Ally is the Force to take out Zekka (and thus everything else) but didn't realize that he had no blast damage in his last 6 cards (and he only needed a couple).

He's pretty amazing as a splash in Sith control, since that gives you so many ways to 'detonate' him at just the right moment.

Including hitting him with Force Lightning if he gets locked down with tactics (which he is likely to have happen).

My mono-Scum list is just 2x of the 4 sets that capture from play and 2x Lucrative Contracts. Pretty brainless to put together, and performs about on par with the construction of the deck. My first few games were explosive, but it's fizzled out since then.

Scum & Villainy

2x The Bespin Exchang

2x Lucrative Contract

2x Hunt Them Down

2x Trandoshan Terror

2x The Hunters

What I like about it is that I can just combo all sorts of things left and right and that's fun. It feels really good to play it. I love how resources work in this deck. You don't get a lot of resource cards, but you do have a fair chance to draw objectives with 2 resources. I usually have at least 2. So when you combine that with Payout, Bounty Collection, and the reaction from The Bespin Exchange, you can usually use all of those resources every turn. In addition to removing focus tokens from objectives, you have a lot of Bounty Hunter units that can remove extra focus tokens through Lucrative Contract.

But it just doesn't come out on top. Maybe I'm just playing it wrong. I'm considering dropping Contract for Slimiest Scheme, but I love the Twist of Fate and I find the Corrupt Officials very nice for those turns when you have to attack to avoid Leia's crazy cards and then you just block damage from Luke, the Crow, or Red 5 and ready on your turn.

Captured gives Bounty Collection a reason to exist.

True, which is another good reason to rethink the deck. Actually, Hive of Scum and Villainy was the objective set that The Hunters replaced. Maybe I can cut Dengar down to 1x and have 1x Hive.
