I've never liked the Ewing in its standard EU form. Today I had the chance to do some slicing and splicing. The results of which I like a ton. It requires two Ewing sets, but the end result is a starfighter worthy of Corran Horn's fire power capability. I may go further and salvage the other two engine nacelles off the remaining Ewing and put them on Corran's as well. I call it the Ewing XJ2.
Simple Modification to the Ewing
Thanks a lot. Soooooo much better!!!
But the E-Wing is from the New Republic and feels in the wrong time-period.
Well, I guess it depends on your point of view. Technically the galactic civil war was still going on when it was introduced. Thanks!
Looks great. I have been planning to do something similar, glad to know that moving the engines there is going to work.
Yeah. It looks great but I'm even thinking of moving two more engines just under the first two. With the above it feels so much more like the F22 it is. Highly advanced, effective, but requires constant maintenance.
You said it required cutting up 2 e-wing models to make this one. Is that just for the laser cannons, or did you take more from the second one?
In the picture above it was just the cannons, however I just took it to the next level and re added nacelles to their original position on the wings. It helped to even out the center of mass for the ship and gave it a very heavy interceptor look. I like it better. It looks like a fighter that they tried to fit too much on. Just like the eu Ewing. I'll post the pic later.
Makes me want to get 4 more for a pair of them..
It looks like the top blaster came off from a slot were the engines also slotted or was that a tear off?
Edited by Cev LostBoth are actually slotted. I only used a hobby knife to leverage them off.
Edited by Red WinterHave you considered a little modelling putty to fill in that slot on the top?
I've considered it, but I don't mind the slot. It adds some more detail to a ship with a lot of straight angles. It looks better in person vs the picture.
I would want to cover the slot with an R2 unit.
I am now staring at my 2 E-wing's..... and seriously considering giving into the dark side.
It's so much more fulfilling
Awesome conversion! I might do this with one of my E-wings, I just acquired them and like how they play much more than I planned to haha.
They can be a real kick in the pants, especially that Corran guy!
I like what you did with the engines!
I seem to recall another thread by someone who had modified their E-wing by adding support struts to extend the wingspan, but I can't find it now. Anyone know the thread I'm thinking of?
Yeah, I remember that. Don't know what thread it was in though.
