What to do besides just combat...

Hi everyone need some upcoming ideas for a few games..

so my guys are doing a Mail Run across Tatooine they have been to pika oasis and are headed to a bantha farm to deliver water to the farm owners.... ive got them doing some survival rolls and resiliance and stuff to find a missing person in a sandstorm on the property but dont know what to do next.

the next places they are to visit is mos espa, mos ethna, mos T then back home.

any ideas for these mos places please

What would you find fun and exciting in a book or movie? Do that.

The banthas could be sick or the droids there damaged which could lead the group to have to either treat/repair them or get help from other locals like jawas (for replacement parts or them repairing the droids or them offering new droids for ACCEPTABLE prices),....

Have someone close to the PCs get kidnapped while they are talking on the comlink. Let the players explain that they have a particular set of skills and that they will find them... No?

There is always gambling, maybe they get cheated or are accused of cheating? Maybe they get involved with a swoop or bantha race? Maybe an underground well has dried up and they need to go into the caves below to find out why, only to discover... !

One of the PCs could always get into trouble with the farmer's daughter. Makes for great jokes and socail encounters.

Also consider throwing the lore or knowledge players a bone and have them find a ruin that was recently uncovered by a sandstorm. It would give them a rare opportunity to use those skills in the context of a side-quest for the party. After all, who doesn't like a good Indiana Jones-style dungeon crawl?

An interesting twist on a dungeon crawl could be a "sandcrawler crawl." The sandcrawlers have been brought to Tatooine and left there by different corporations for over 1000 years. One could have been lost in a sandstorm, sunk into the cavity of a dead sarlaac, whatever.

Encounter 1: Survive a sandstorm with Survival and Resilience checks.

Encounter 2: The storm uncovers a mysterious metal hatch in the desert. The PCs must gain access to it somehow. There's no power to operate the door after all. The sandcrawler is also laying on its side so navigating the "ruin" is difficult, requiring many athletics checks to jump open doorways and climb the walls.

Encounter 3: The PCs discover an old T7-series astromech with some lost navigation data that could lead the PCs off on whatever wild adventure you want. The droid is barely functional, and its body is beyond repair. The PCs must make a series of Computers and Mechanics checks to remove and preserve the droid's verbobrain so the data may be retrievedand used later.

Based on the timing, the PC's can run into a squad of feisty Stormtroopers. The PC's aren't in trouble but, hoping they might be locals, the troopers ask if they knew of a "Ben Kenobi"

I'd imagine that, after feeling "the Force is strong in this one" and finding out the farmboy that blew up the Death Star was from Tatooine, Vader had to have at least looked for Kenobi's place. These Stormtroopers are doing the scout work. The importnat thing is that they com across the troopers. The Kenobi thing is just fluff to tie in the movie events.

Then, not far off, they PC's find the decimated remains of a Tusken Raider party. The Stormtroopers ran into them earlier which is why they're remains. One tusken raider survives. The PC's can help, certainly putting themselves at risk since the Raiders have a pretty nasty reputation. If they do, the Raiders will help the PC's reach through their territory, saving themselves some time, resources. If they don't, another Sandpeople group begins tracking them, thinking the PC's are responsible for the deaths...

Time is always your friend. Failing Survival rolls can make them lost or delayed. Delayed could mean reduced payment if they're contracted to return within a timeframe, something they might have to take Obligation to fix, or Negotiate a new deal. Or the source of their delay could be damage to their transport which costs them more to fix. Delayed could mean Strain or Wounds as they deal with a hostile environment and they didn't pack enough water. These things can cascade into other checks. Maybe they couldn't outrun that sandstorm, now they're stuck in a gully. They didn't check the upkeep on the emergency kit, so the emergency rations have gone bad, the tent lets in dust, or the micro-vaporator isn't working properly and they only have enough water for PCs - 1. When they wake up, they and their speeder are buried.

One failed or success-with-threat Survival roll can trigger Negotiation, Charm, Mechanics, Skulduggery, Resilience...among other things.

Gambling is a blast. We rolled dueling dice pools. We played a modified poker with some Battlestar Galactica cards. I've got some nice clay poker chips. We ran it like real gambling.

My players remarked that my sessions have been really diverse so far. I appreciated the feedback.

Episode I - Escape from Mos Shuuta

- Beginner Box. Players haggled with a junk dealer, tricked a Trandoshan slaver, stole a ship, and had a spaceship chase.

Episode II - Tibana Sunset Casino

- Market row scene of Jewel of Yavin ended up being a public gun fight. Players interrogated and killed a thug afterwards for information on breaking into his boss' casino. They planned a caper, talked and snuck their way into a casino, and into a penthouse to slice into a private network and steal sensitive information. Then they got chased by an obligation bounty hunter.

Episode III - The Corellian Runner

- Escaping Cloud City on a cruise ship, the players had to hide themselves/their illegal gear when the cruise ship was stopped and boarded by an Imperial customs corvette and her crew. They had to keep their calm while interrogated. Then a fire fight broke out when a rebel bomber was discovered. They ran around the ship then snuck onto the Imperial corvette dressed as storm troopers, sabotaged the hyperdrive and stole a shuttle (I know, I know, the silhouette wasn't big enough) and escaped.

Episode IV - Jiroch

- This will happen on Saturday. The Jedi exile felt drawn to the nearby Jiroch system (Episode III happened around Mugaar. cruise ship was running the Corellian trade Spire headed for the resort world of Kaal when it was stopped). I'm running a modified version of Lost Knowledge for this session. It will be Indiana Jones meets Cthulhu has tea with the Jedi.

I like to include slicing, sneaking, talking, searching, and combat in each session in varying measure. I've got ideas to run us well into Q3 and this forum is such a great way to share ideas so I can imagine the players would never run out of things to do!

It would give them a rare opportunity to use those skills in the context of a side-quest for the party. After all, who doesn't like a good Indiana Jones-style dungeon crawl?

I like this--- not combat heavy but something thrilling with traps and mazes. Something that leads to the treasure at the end-- hell you could pull a 'Mario princess' at the end to really make them get frustrated, " sorry the treasure is in another dungeon" or maybe as they arrive a meddling NPC is just slipping away with it.

Smuggling, negotiations, deliveries, infiltrations, switch-a-roo's, framed crimes. Wait a minute...

Have them negotiate the release of an ally from a crime lord who wants them to smuggle some goods onto an imperial planet where they will infiltrate an imperial officer's residence to frame them for criminal activities. After placing the evidence they will also perform a switch-a-roo on the officers code cylinder and deliver it back to the crime lord!

Feel free to puncutate the above as needed.
