Grand Admiral Thrawn?

By MaverickNZ, in Star Wars: Armada

They aren't throwing it out per say. More picking and choosing what parts they want in the new canon.

They really aren't though. They have pretty much thrown all of it out and they haven't really 'picked' anything to be re-instated.
Sure they have. The Star Wars Rebels cartoon is listed as being part of the official canon, and it includes many references to EU material, such as Sienar Systems, the title of Inquisitor, lightsaber forms, etc.

Not to mention the new novels (mostly Tarkin) have already reconfirmed:

Carrack Cruisers

Dreadnoughts

Immobiliser-418 cruisers

Various fighters

Two other Interdcitor ships from the CC range

Victory-class

Various planets, events and characters that have not changed

So far nothing has actually been contradicted, and some stuff is already re-confirmed as canon.

Which EU fighter models have been made canon by the new novels anyway? I only remember models that were already canon appearing in them.

V-Wing, Delta-7 and Eta-2 were all from the PT, Z-95 appeared in The Clone Wars cartoon, and the various TIEs were from the OT.

I had started to fear Unremarkable was right: began to develop a really bad case of Splinter of the Mind's Eye blues...

So I decided to read the books that appear to be Canon: Tarkin and New Dawn . There is a lot of the EU that has been acknowledged in these books. Vlad gives a pretty good list, but there is tons more stuff that received "the nod." So far as I can tell, the material after ROTJ is what is in question.

Bottom line: I highly recommend reading the two books above. Or tune into Rebels, it's pretty entertaining.

My list wasn't intended to be comprehensive, just to get a few things out there to demonstrate the point. I think that even on the cartoon, there's probably a lot of other EU stuff acknowledged that I didn't catch. I'll have to check out those books sometime, though.

And I think you're right that the stuff after RotJ is the stuff that's most likely going to be explicitly written out. They might keep a few things, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they decide to not incorporate anything from the EU into the new movies.

I think Disney want to do some animated series between VI and VII. Lack of canon will free their hands and they would do another sh*tty kids cartoon with Trawn been fooled by the rebel kids and ets. EU with sadistic Vongs, winning Imperials is just too mature for kids I think.

Forgot Z-95s were in the cartoon....never mind the fighters then!
