I can't remember the original thread it was in, but there was a discussion around fighters, and anti-fighter fire, where it was discussed the range of anti-squadron fire.
I originally referred to FFG's website where it simply says that the attacker replaces his attack dice with dice from a pool of a type nominated on its card (not the exact wording), I took this as meaning that you can attack as usual, but you just roll that dice type.
Re-watching the TC Gencon video last night there was an instance of anti-fighter fire where the FFG rep said at the time (summarising) that squadrons attack capital ships only at range one, and on your card you have blue dice so that means you can attack squadrons at range 2 (medium range).
This seems to tie in with Armada having a very set philosophy then on the colour of the dice tying to the range of the attack, so black dice can only be used short range, blue only mid or lower and red at long or lower. Will be interesting if there ever comes out with anything longer than red
So it sounds then that the default ships all have anti starfighter defensive ranges of medium range. Will be interesting then to see if we get upgrades such as "improved anti-starfighter defense" Add one red dice to your anti-squadron dice pool. Which would then extend to include a range 3 attack
