Upgrade Cards

By Loyalist, in X-Wing

Being relatively new to X-Wing I'm wondering how one gets additional copies of the pending TIE/X1 card in the Raider expansion, to use with previosly purchased TIE Advanced models.

As you can see in the preview there will be 4 copies included for each the title and the system upgrade ;)

The answer is easy:

Buy 3 Tie Advanced and the Raider,

then you will have a Raider and 4 Tie Advanced and titles ans Advanced Targeting Computers for all 4.

Thanks, I hadn't read that there'd be 4 copies of the upgrade cards in the expansion - that'll supply all of my TiE Advanced models.

If you take a look and noticed at the card list and titles of the larger sets (such as Aces) there usually is a set number of share-able upgrades that have been calculated for a 100 point standard match. Example Rebel Aces came with only 1 A-wing but 3 Copies of Chardaan Refit and 2 Copies of A-wing Test Pilot. With 2 Rebel Aces pack you will get 6 Chardaan Refit which would be the maximum number of A-wings you can field in a single 100 point limit standard list. You only get 4 A-wing test pilot because you would end up spending more points and odds are would only use a maximum of 4 A-wing test pilots without going above the 100 point limit.

Now if the Raider price are going to be anything like the past "Epic Play" expansions It is going to cost roughly around $90 (or so) so more than twice the price of say 2 Aces packs. So a reasonable set composition that includes upgrades for Tie Advance is to have enough for the most Tie Advances you can field in a 100 point standard, and that number would be 4 as it cost the same as an X-wing. So you can count on there being 4 Tie 1x title cards in the raider pack.

FFG does a reasonably good job in supplying their customers with the tools that they need to play the game if you take a look at all the pack contents. They know at most you would ever buy is 1 raider (and that is the most you would ever need if you go by the competitive rules.) So you can count they are not going to restrict the upgrades so you would have to buy 2 or 3 to get all your tie advances equipped with the latest title.

That makes sense considering the 100 pt limit. I have 2 Advanced and due to the pending upgrade improvements will get a 3rd with the Raider expansion. I've been looking at different squadron builds and could easiy add a 4th within 100 pts.
