New To X-Wing, New To The Forum

By HanShotFirst88, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So a few of my friends and I recently got into the game, and I have gone on a buying spree. I have decided to play Rebels for now, so we split up the two starter sets so I have the two x-wings and my friend has the four TIEs.

In addition to these I bought two more x-wings, an a-wing, and I just received my YT-1300 in the mail today. I've only played a few games with the following build using another friend's YT-2400:

Eaden Vrill (32)

Wedge w/ Determination (30)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Prototype Pilot (17)

For a total of 100 points. Well, it was very close but I ended up losing with that against two interceptors and three regular TIEs, but I don't remember their build. Whats the most competitive build I can do with my own ships, not including the YT-2400. I'd like to include the Falcon if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give to a new player!

trade out Vrill he needs his targets too be stressed if I remember correctly, and you don't have any way to stress your opponents ships.. if you like Vrills ability, take the prototype out or the rookie and give his mates some stress causing ability..

I'll be taking out Vrill because, as I said, he isn't actually mine. Im hoping to build a list around the YT-1300 and Han or Chewbacca.

Just starting out my advice would be to keep things simple, as you will still be at the stage of internalizing things. (Of course, maybe you're just naturally adept at remembering details, but assuming you're not...)

Don't try to trick things out with all sorts of upgrades that you're going to forget about in the heat of play when your brain is still just trying to internalize the basics. A BIG part of this game is about brain management.

Beyond that, if he likes flying interceptors and you have the YT-1300 then you should put a high PS pilot in there. Your game will be won by staying close but out of his arc of fire. Because he can never avoid your arc of fire except by distance, you have a natural advantage in doing so. Sure, you may bump into him, but as long as you're in base-to-base one of his ships can't shoot at you, and you can shoot fist at the other ship and hopefully take out the glass cannon.

Aside from the high-PS YT-1300 pilot (ie. Han), fill it up with things that keep it simple for you. I'd recommend the X-Wings, because they're sturdy and pack a punch.

Could do something like this, simple and fun

Luke Skywalker (28)
R2-D2 (4)
Han Solo (46)
Millennium Falcon (1)
Rookie Pilot (21)
Total: 100
Always fun to have Luke and Han in the same list :)
