Does 53 pt. Dash want initiative against 58 point Dash?

By WWHSD, in X-Wing

I'm trying to figure out if I'd rather let someone running a 58 point Dash have initiative when I'm using a list with a 53 point Dash.

It seems like initiative would be nice to have since there's going to be a lot of HLC shots being traded and shooting first is attractive.

On the other hand if it comes down to Dash vs. Dash, letting the more expensive Dash move second means that he can just hug range one until time runs out.

What do you guys think? Does shooting first outweigh minimize the chances that 'll need to worry about having time run down on a Dash vs. Dash showdown?

I think in a case of a Dash vs Dash, due to the range 1 hole... I'd rather move 2nd.

Being able to shoot first when you can't shoot doesn't really help a ton. :)

Ya, let them have initiative, chances of crits are lower when they're running HLC so there's not much downside.

Having the same PS and shooting first doesn't help that much since the only thing that would really take effect early is crits.

When two pilots have the same PS shoot at each other, they both get to shoot even if the first shot destroys the other.

I agree that moving second on Dash is more important that shooting first.

I would rather move second.

I completely forgot about simultaneous fire. That makes it a much easier choice. Thanks.

I would want to shoot first. Yea it's harder to get crits with the HLC, but shooting first means the potential of giving them munitions failure or blinded pilot or something before their return shot, which is huge.

I would move second and just park in their donut until super Dash was the only ship left. In my Dash/Corran lists I always put one of the two inside the other Dash's donut. Haven't lost yet.
