Boba Fett and Rexler Brath

By Biophysical, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been playing around with double Defender lists lately, but now I'm wondering if I can better do what I want to do by throwing a Firespray in there. Here's the idea:

Boba Fett, VI, HLC, Recon Specialist = 50

Rexler Brath, Predator, HLC, Stealth Device (maybe Hull Upgrade) = 50

-VI Boba with an HLC is going to cause a lot of problems to Phantoms with is ability to alter banks. Rex can cover a blind spot or two with an HLC.

-Both are reasonably durable against massed 2 dice attacks thanks to good agility.

-An HLC shot from Boba followed by a Predator HLC shot from Brath can cause big problems early to large ships. You can generate a boatload of meaningful crits this way.

-Both have higher PS than PTL Dash, so his movement shenanigans are less of a concern.

-Rebel 2-ship lists like B-wings or the new BTL-A4 Y-wings might be a problem because they have very high firepower and durability. It would take some luck to kill one before it got a shot off. Multiple 3-dice attacks will start racking up damage pretty fast.

Any thoughts? Anything I'm missing?

Interesting build

I'd drop Rec Spec and Stealth device and put Gunner on Boba for when you're forced to change directions into a collision to keep people in arc. Still have a good chance to dish out damage.

Actually I'd probably trade HLC in off of Boba to put Engine on both and make them that much more agile as well.

I would rather go EU on Boba. It will be a lot easier to get Phantoms in arc when they pull their de-cloak shenans.

3 un-modified dice won't hit as hard as that HLC, but with only 2 agility dice, some shots will get through. Hopefully Brath can finish them off or at least get a shot in or 2.

****... ninja'd

Yeah, Gunner on Boba would definitely help hitting Phantoms when possible.

I like those changes. If I drop Predator for Lone Wolf that frees up a point also. That gives:

Boba, VI, Gunner, Engine for 49

Rex, Lone Wolf, HLC for 46

If I keep Stealth Device on Rex, that leaves 2 points for a Seismic Charge. There would be one close range, mobile brawler and a sniper hanging back.

One thing I've been toying around with is a more control-oriented Boba Fett. My biggest problem so far has been deciding on a wingman for him. I like the idea of throwing in Rexler. How about this build

Boba Fett (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tactician (2)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Slave I (0)

Rexler Brath (37)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Total: 98

I've toyed with the idea of putting an ion cannon onto Boba also.

I don't have much experience with Firesprays (one of the reasons I want to try this list), but I'm generally a little hesitant to spend 50 points or so just to add some stress. He needs to be doing damage, I think.

I totally get what you are saying! In this list, there is definitely some damage going out, but adding stress on top of it limits your opponent's ability to respond

I could see Flechettes instead of Seismic Charge maybe in my list. That gives you a stress option if you need it. I'd say probably that either Gunner or HLC is important enough to keep him hitting strong. Otherwise he's just a tough Rookie Pilot. Thinking about it, Flechettes are actually really good with Gunner. They don't really care if they hit, so blowing your attack on 3 unboosted dice isn't that big a deal. With PS10 you get the Lock easy, and throw a Flechette torpedo at a meaningful target (Corran Horn, an Interceptor, a Phantom, maybe an Aggressor in the future). If it hits, great, if it doesn't, re-roll with Gunner, possibly at something else (the Flechettes have already done their job).

The purpose of the flechette plus tactician is to double stress a ship and keep it from using actions.

I think it looks like a lot of fun. I might try subbing lone wolf instead of predator on brath, unless you intend to fly them close together. Lone wolf + stealth is quite nice

I understand that, it's just a bunch of points for a ship that can do that trick once, and hits like an X-wing otherwise.

PS10 and Flechettes and Engine Upgrade... Phantom hunter!

I wouldn't fly Boba Fett without Engine Upgrade. Not ever.

What about fett+VI+ICT+title+Flachette+tact+EU=51
