So, as I'm sure a few of you are aware, I've been trying oh so very hard to find a niche where Tycho and Tycho alone can exist, thus, Psycho Tycho was born:
Tycho Celchu
A Wing Test Pilot
Push the Limit
DareDevil
Experimental Interface
Chardaan Refit -OR- Proton Rockets
Total 33 -OR- 38 points
When he moves after everyone, he can almost always get out of arc or force the collision via DD to keep him safe. However, when there's a PS9+ pilot on the board, he's pretty much useless. So that means that I can't send him Phantom hunting, and it also clearly identifies the #1 target in my opponent's squad to me. But I've yet to come across something that actually compliments Psycho Tycho well... Until perhaps last night?
As more of an SnG list, I ran the following last night
Psycho Tycho w/ PRockets
Corran Horn w/ VI + R2D2 + FCS + EU
Prototype w/ CR
Total: 99 points
I really didn't expect it to do well at all, but to my surprise, I went 4-0, only losing two ships the entire night. I was running it with a hit + run type tactic. I would split the ships up along my setup, and whomever my opponent targeted, I would basically overshoot my ship, and just take the free flanking shots from the prototype and other named pilot. From there, the prototype did his annoying blocking, and Tycho outflew everyone, and Corran would stay at R2-3 in the early game, basically regenerating/blocking all damage.
Two questions to all ya'll - I technically have 21 points to play with. Tycho could drop the Prockets freeing up 5, plus the 15 from the Prototype, and 1 init bid. Is the prototype + Procket the best way to spend those 21 points? I considered using a Green w/ PTL, but decided against it for blocking reasons. But the Green w/ PTL does have its merits as well - but is it worth dropping the procket? Or should I use a Rookie so I bring another 3 dice attack?
What are your thoughts? What competitive squads would this really struggle against, and how would you modify it to make it better? Thanks.
