So, are we getting any previews ever?

By Gizlivadi, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

You guys do not disappoint on this Monday morning... 3am?!

It's already six of evening over here :P

It's so painfully obvious they're just messing with us at this point.

They are waiting for April 1 and they will post that the game is cancelled.

I even play AGot 2.0...and I was unhappy to see this preview instead of a LotR preview.

that summer and winter agendas though!

You give too much credit to our relevance.

I saw the opera Parsifal yesterday, and one of the main characters (a king called Amfortas) is very pained the whole time. I feel this game is like King Amfortas.

Somewhere at the FFG headquarters, a sticky note floats gently to the ground, coming to rest between the wall and an office desk. It reads, "Remember to post LotR spoilers when you get back from vacation."

It's actually covered up by all the post-it notes that someone else covered their entire office/cubicle with while they were out.

In the age to come, someone will come across it and declare it his precious.

Unbelievable, more GoT and no news for LOTR I'm starting to get nervous

No spoilers today.

No hope for the forlorn fans

Of Lord of the Rings.

Something interesting from one of the recent AGOT2 spoilers mechanic-wise. It cancels an effect based on a single world contained within that effect's text. Do you think something like that can be used for softer cancel effects of LotR?

Oh hey, it's yet another day where we will get no updates on the game whatsoever.

Quite possibly, but it's so conditional. I'm trying to think of an encounter card effect that I hate enough to run a cancel like that. Dunedain Watcher is a similar card except she is a hard shadow cancel on a stick, and four cycles later we still haven't seen her sibling which would hard cancel a treachery.

Free To Choose is similar in that it is keyed off of a threat raise.

Free to Choose isn't a cancel though and is more keyed off an effect rather than a particular word. Minas Tirith Lampwright is a decent example since triggers off of the word "surge" and discards themselves, except it is worse since there is a chance it doesn't cancel the surge effect (if you guess wrong).

I'm not sure what else - outside of actual keywords like surge and doom - that we'd want to target enough that we'd actually include them in.

"discard" "exhaust" "raise" "reveal" "seach" "engaged"

Just some ideas of common words used in treacheries. Not sure I'd like to see anything that was word specific like that.

A card that discards to let you cancel an encounter card with the phrase "search the encounter deck" would be fantastic. They would have to avoid giving such a character the Rohan trait, otherwise Gamling shenanigans would ensue.
