Heroes can ignore doors?

By Tauntaun, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I don't have the rules in front of me, so my wordings may not be exact, but I remember there are several missions where:

1. Doors automatically close

2. "Heroes adjacent to a Door can ignore it for LoS and movement"

One example is in "Generous Donations", when after uploading the virus all doors close. But I saw point 2 in other missions.

I don't understand the meaning of it... What's the point for a door to be closed, but to ignore it for LoS and movement? I am not sure how to play it. Any suggestion appreciated.

Thanks!

It's as it says, just follow what is written. I guess its to simulate the effect of a hero dodging about in a doorway as in the films invulnerable to incoming fire but still getting shots off.

The point is that it's just one way. The Heroes can move and shoot through the door with no action penealty, but after they retreat away the Imperials still have to open/destroy the door to get through.

My brain is a rock, I still don't understand. :)

Does this happen just once when closing the door, or for the entire mission? As described, is seems like a "magical door" that blocks imperials but allows heroes to move in and out... What you describe should be available to all figures adjacent to the door.

To me it is just a way of saying/imagining that the heros "controls" the doors in a way that allows them to open and close them (via remote or motion sensors?) while the Imperial figures can't in this/these scenarios. Right?

The Heroes control the facility and have rigged the doors to open and close via remotes they all have allowing them to more effectively defend the facility.

The rules don't allow for closing doors in normal circumstances. This prevents players from spending actions to constantly open and close doors. That sort of detail could bog the game down, and as seen in the WotC skirmish game, can shift the game to revolve around something that doesn't quite feel thematic (i.e. door control was the key to victory for many squads). Instead, it appears that FFG has chosen to go with a streamlined rule that simulates door control. As others have stated, the Rebels have full control over the doors and are basically able to open and shut the doors as needed to move and shoot throughout the facility.

You are way over-thinking it. In one of the missions were rebels ignore doors the "fluff text" states that the rebels have built "barricades". Yes, you are putting a door token on the board, but it actually represents a rebel-built barrier that they are using for the advantage, it is providing "cover" and optimal "fire points" and that is represented by the rebels being able to "ignore" the "door".

Thank you all, it still feels a bit strange to me, but having the rebels control the door is a good explanation of what's happening. :)
