Definition of "Tile"

Hi all,

A question I haven't been able to find an answer to in the rules.

Since the question contains spoilers for a specific mission it's hidden in the spoiler below.

In the objectives for the story mission placed out if the rebels fail Aftermath (I can't remember the name now, and aren't at home so I can check) the Imperial player needs to secure points on the map in order to win the scenario. This is done by controlling the Tile each of the rebel objective tokens are on, by being on it while no healthy Hero is on the tile. I can't find any definition of what is a Tile in the rules though.

My interpretation is that it means the whole Map tile the token is on, would that be correct?

Any input is much appreciated since I will be playing my first campaign this weekend...

I would interpret it the same way you do.

Page 2 of the Learn to Play book calls them "map tiles", so I think that's good enough to assume that's what's meant.

The thing I was wondering is if the partial spaces of a tile count as a space of that tile.

And sometimes you deploy to a named tile. Does that include the space where just a quarter of the space is on the tile (where it connects to another tile)?

That's the reason for my interpretation too, the only time the rules mentiones Tiles is in relation to map tiles, so I guess I'll go with that if we end up playing that mission.

The question of partial squares are interesting though. The exact wording in the mission mentioned above is "occupying a tile". Not that that makes it any easier.

I'd say you need to be in a square that is fully on the map tile..

I interpreted tile as a space inside the building (AKA you need to be on a space where the token overlaps: some 4, some 3, some 2).

It's silly that they didn't say "map tile" instead.

A player controls a tile if there is at least one friendly figure in any

space of the tile and no hostile figures in any spaces of the tile.
- If friendly and hostile figures are on the same tile, no one
controls the tile.
Given the "any space" clause, I'm interpreting those connecting spaces as part of the tile until further clarification. That's tough, though, because it means that one figure could control two tiles at the same time. Conundrum.

You can only ever be in one square with a single model. There is never a tile with a square spit with another tile. How do you control two tiles with one figure? If your on one of those 2x1 tiles, that's its own tile. It checks for control separately.
