Land Raider vs Area Effect

By Benedictus84, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest - Rules Questions

Hello To all members of this Community.

I have got a question that came to my mind every often now.

Does the landraider ignore the effect of AREA Attack.

And i also dont understand the difference between card effect and card ability. Is a card abillity a card effect?

As I from Austria and not native speaker please answer as simple as possible. ( my english is good but nor as good as the english from a Native speaker.)

kind regards

Land Raider does not protect against Area Attack, as Area Attack does not target any enemy units.

Card Abilities are defined in the Rules Reference guide (forgive me for not providing a page reference as I don't have the copy to hand).

hello. Thanks for the reply.

I know that it is defined in the Rules reference guide. But the difference between card abbilites and card effects. arent all abbilites effects?

A card ability can be broken into various parts:

- a triggering condition (eg "After the combat phase begins,")

- a cost (anything before the word "to", eg "sacrifice this unit to")

- an effect (the remaining text, eg "draw 3 cards")

So an effect is always a subset of an ability. It's possible for the ability to be the same as the effect (if the ability doesn't have a triggering condition or a cost).

Thanks PBrenan. If i understand correct an ability is part of an effect. But lower! like a lower rank.

The other way around. An ability contains an effect within it.
