Lambda Tie Adv and Defender

By skrapsan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I put together the following list for you guys to pick apart.

Colonel Jendon (26) +ST-321 +anti pursuit laser (2) +rebel captive (3)

= 34

Maarek Stele (27) +Tie/X1 (0) +Advanced Targeting Computer (1) + Expert Handling (2)

= 30

Colonel Vessery (35) +Veteran instincts (1)

=36

== 100

The Idea is for Jendon to hand out previus target locks to Stele, and then take a new one.

Then Vessery shoots the targe and gains target lock as well.

And after that Stele comes in to shoot and hopefully most of the shields and focus/evades are gone so the critt effect is maximised.

Edit: spelling & wording.

I think the list looks pretty good. The only thing that I would question is the Expert Handling. I've never seen anyone take it on a ship that already had barrel roll. Have you used that to good effect before? Maybe it's good, but I've not seen it used to good effect. I figure the 2pts could be put somewhere else. Even just 1 Vet In. with a 1 pt buffer.

I have no idea if it is any good or not, I haven't taken them out for a spin yet . I put it there to get rid of target locks mostly. But there might be better suited EPT's out there perhaps stay on target, or as you said veteran instincts.

Or drop it and change Vessery to brath to have the possibility of more crits against anti crit ships, if that works at all.

If you drop Expert Handling, Rebel Captive, and Anti-Pursuit Lasers, you can put an HLC on Vessery. That's a beast right there.

While HLC is nice, I think Rebel Captive is nicer for the list overall. A-PL can be great, depending on how you play it. Now, if the Mangler Cannon were here, I'd say go with that!

I just feel like it's a shame to put Vessery in a list that can make good use of his ability and not put an HLC on him. 4 dice with re-rolls, no action required on his part. It's epic. That will strip shields from most ships in 1 turn. It will probably soak 3P0, the Evade token, and 2 shields from the Falcon, meaning the second turn of your firing, Marek is picking crits. Against any Decimator, you're probably dropping all four shields in one shot, so Marek can then pick crits on the first round of firing, before Isard even gets a chance to activate. That's just me though.

Yeah EH is such a waste on anything that can Barrel Roll anyway. All you do is force your opponent to focus. Not that much of a sting. If you were up against an ordnance heavy list, that could hurt him, but no one runs ordnance so its a waste. Personally I would just drop the APLs and EH for an Engine Upgrade on the Shuttle. Nothings worse than have to turn a shuttle around without an EU. The EU makes the turn happen in half the moves. A HLC could be interesting on the Shuttle as well. It would really mess with you opponents target priority.

Thanks for all the feedback. I was considering using Engine Upgrade on the Advanced, but I can see that it's better fitting for the shuttle. But mostly I'm glad the list was not slaughtered right out the door.
