Wife-Wing

By Funk Fu master, in X-Wing

I am entertaining the idea of even buying Harry Potter legos or figures to attach to some Litko bases for full on Harry Potter wizard wars.

A quiditch variant of the rules would be interesting.

I agree! If Fantasy Flight did something like this, I can only imagine the players and income it would draw. Monthly quidditch tourneys where people can play their favorite team and players! I would imagine it would also draw in a large crowd of people who never played any miniature games.

I'm a wife and I love X-Wing! We play at home all the time and a local game store every Thursday.

He and I keep a tally on the fridge and see who has won the most per month.

If you want to get your wife to play, not to be insulting, but it may just work ;), you could always say best of three games has to do something nice for the other. You know, you sit through her Harry Potter movies or she has do something like buy beer that doesn't contain the world ultra. :)

Also, if covering things in pink glitter doesn't work, there is always the strip x-wing and cosmopolitans option. :)

Wife has no interest in play, but she buys me the toys and lets me get out to play. Kids are showing more interest.

My wife is more into Lords of Waterdeep, Catan, Firefly, Ticket to Ride when it comes to games. She also is a bigger Xbox gamer than me. Loves Dragon Age, Fable, Mass Effect.

She's not that into Star Wars and tried x-wing once. Her dyslexia makes it a problem to figure out maneuver dials and which direction to fly. :(

My wife likes the looks of the ships, and played it once. She said she likes it, but I haven't got her to play it again. She rather play on her iPad or watch tv. It's cool though, my kids are getting in to it. My oldest son and I have been having some good battles. And also got my best friend into it and my sister and her boyfriend are enjoying it too.

Hi all,

Have been playing since wave 2 came out and just want to see if there are any others like me.

I got in to X-Wing not to play tournaments, or even casually at the FLGS, but because, despite my wife being as big a nerd as me when it comes to what we watch and read, she never showed any interest in wargaming. She loves boardgames but my collection at the time consisted of Warhammer (both flavours) battlefleet gothic, spacehulk and wings of war. No.interest.at.all.

I had read good things about x-wing, so one day we just "happened" to be walking by the FLGS when I suggested we have a look. She agreed to brave the rather smelly lair of the local neckbeards. 5 minutes later a very happy me walked ut with a core set, a Y-wing and a TIE-Advanced.

We played 6 games that evening and have been hooked ever since. I have amassed the collection as seen in my signature block, and manage to play about once a month.

I have seince sold all my other game armies. I i love reading the tactics and strategies on these forums. I need to as the wife beats me 3/4 of the time.

I am now saving up and gearing to get her as excited about Armada as I am.

Anyone else out there use this game to bond with their better half in the wonderful world of wargaming

X-Wing is good but if you want to play a FFG game that will really encourage bonding get FFG Mansion of Madness. Get some married friends to play with you. Set the event up to be a dinner party.

Might I suggest...

* Count Alexander Sergyevich Stroganovs style of "Beef Stroganoff" with fried potatoe mini cakes and salted diced cucumbers

* Sirlion kebabs flavored with onions and dry red wine over night and eatin with a black OR purple plum sauce

* Fried Calf Brains with slices of hot buttered toast

If you need a side Potato Cakes with Mushroom Sauce would work with most these dishes.

Dessert

* Small Russian style blueberry pies are excellent

* Baked Apples with cinnamon and nuts with ether a almond or hazelnut flavoring.

* Fruit Soup with Sour Cream

(shes's wearing my gloves... her hands are not that big!)

But this is early days of her getting into the game, she sort of liked the look of the firespray, i told her there was a female pilot 'kath scarlet' and she played a game with her as the core of her force and was hooked

But then again my wifes like my perfect woman.

She does larp, wwii and cold war living history (she does her own research , gets her own kit... i let her get on with it), she paints miniatures, does cosplay and plays keyboards in my band.

Oh and she's mad about lego too. We had a lego themed wedding

Everything is awesome! And i consider her my best friend and i'm very lucky she loves me.

Had Lego on our cake too. We made a little me and the Mrs.

My wife has played quite a few games with me. She enjoys it. She likes the generic pilots and shorter 75 point games.

Congratulations, *******.

I read the title and came to the thread to find the topic was completely different than I had expected.

My wife will only play games if I force her.

I notice a trend of wife praise here. I like it. I have mentioned before that mine plays other games with me. But I have to give her creds for allowing our wedding pictures to be Star Wars themed (pic bellow). I jokingly said that we could use my lightsabers for the picture, and she agreed so fast. And we had a huge nerd wedding with Lego cake and batman napkins etc etc.

Gadge, can i nominate your wife for the first tests of human cloning, should the opportunity arise. it seems a little selfish to keep someone that awesome just for yourself.

She's a real star mate. I'm so lucky to have her as my best mate.

Oh did i mention she has her own 3000 point high elf army for warhammer and paints better than me :(

And I'm glad to see she wears the correct uniform too-may the emperor bless her

That could be read *sooo* wrongly. Perhaps its just me with a mind in the gutter.
