Defending the Decimator.

By Dagonet, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I like the idea presented in the Raider article: A big ship jumps in, with a fighter as escort, lays down the law and jumps out.

And here, to impose order on their neck of the woods:

Rexler Brath (37)
Predator (3)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Navigator (3)
Rebel Captive (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Chiraneau paves the way for Brath to crit to his hearts content while trying to stay out of as many arcs as possible.
I'm thinking of taking this list to a tournament, any thoughts on how it would perform?

If you're wanting Chiraneau to 'soften' ships up for Brath to crit then you don't really need the PS boost so I'd think about replacing VI with Determination on the Decimator. The build out you've got there though could make an ideal Phantom/VI'd Dash hunter and the two ship, Decimator/Phantom or Decimator/Firespray is workable list at the moment. Can't see why a Defender wouldn't also work.

I would definitely take determination over vi especially without any way to generate evades. 16 hit points seems like a lot but zero agility means the get whittled down quickly especially in a turret heavy landscape.

Seeing as you don't have Ysanne on board I too would take Determination over VI on Chirpy.

You could also swap Navigator for Fleet Officer - as an enabler for Brath's ability.

Well, I'm kinda partial to VI on the admiral, together with Navigator it'll allow him to adjust his movement nicely out of arc.

I am willing to toss away the Hull Upgrade, the Captive and/or the Engine Upgrade.

If I drop the captive and the HU, and add Isard and the Dauntless title. That would allow me assess the situation and Navigate myself onto someone preventing him from attacking me while still retaining an action.
