Quick Decimator rule question

By cleardave, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I've seen some Decimator builds out there that look something like this, for example;

Chiraneau

  • Expose
  • Ysanne Isard
  • Experimental Interface
  • misc upgrades, wingmen, etc

So at first glance, I couldn't figure out why you would run Experimental Interface to take on stress, since it would block Isard from triggering, but then I think I got it;

During Chiraneu's activation, you would move, then perform an action, Target Lock lets say, then when the game moves to Combat, you activate Isard for the free Evade action, which then satisfies Experimental Interface's text, which then allows you to take stress and Expose.

Did I get this right? It was the free action part from Isard that threw me off.

Correct. Experimental Interface, like Push the Limit, triggers off of performing an action. Any Action. Since Isaard says to perform a free evade ACTION it is a valid trigger for those cards. So, once you have taken the 1 point of damage and are able to activate Isaard, you stop using EI off of your primary action and start using it off of the Evade action. Meaning Admiral Cheerios has a mini focus from his ability, can TL as a primary action, Evade from Isaard and Expose with EI for the effect of 4 actions a turn and a focused and TLed 4/5 dice turret attack.

Excellent, that clears it up. Thanks!

Minor correction: You Expose first and take stress from EI after that. Not the other way round.

Yes, it's a nitpicky thing, because we all know what's up, but the action and resolution of Expose does happen before taking the stress token, otherwise you wouldn't be able to Expose.

The nice thing is the decimator has plenty of green to shed the stress meaning your actions go through easy while whatever shoots you has to deal with rebel captive.

I haven't tried EU+predator yet both games I used expose and it just worked great for me.

<perform action /> //in perform action phase, Target Lock

<Isard>

<perform action /> //evade

<Experimental Interface>

<perform action /> //expose

</Experimental Interface> //receive 1 stress

</Isard>

or with ptl and EI:

<perform action /> //boost

<PTL>

<perform action /> //focus

<EI>

<perform action /> //fleet officer, receive stress

</EI> //receive stress

</PTL> //receive stress

or the really crazy:

//activation phase, no stress

<Green Maneuver />

<bump />

<dauntless>

<perform action /> //Target Lock

</dauntless> //receive 1 stress (Total: 1)

<check pilot stress /> //green maneuver, remove 1 stress (Total: 0)

//combat phase

<isard>

<perform action /> //evade

<PTL>

<perform action /> //focus

<EI>

<perform action /> //Saboteur

</EI> //receive stress (Total: 1)

</PTL> //receive stress (Total: 2)

</isard>

Total Actions: 4

Total Stress: 2

I'm pretty sure this can't be done since EI states that it can only be used once per Round

Movement and Shooting are phases, the whole turn is considered one round
