Just wondering exactly what happens when you hit (run into) one of your own ships? Does it work like obsticals? Like hitting a enemy ship where no dmg no action but you can shoot? Thanks for any help that can be given.
Bumping into Friendly Ships?
Enemy ship or friendly ship does not matter. You overlap a ship, any ship (1), you move your ship back until it touches and lose your perform action step of the activation phase.
See rulebook page 17: Overlapping other Ships
(1) Not huge ships; see epic rules.
Also note, that if you overlap a ship, you move back until you are touching it, you CAN still attack, you just can't attack the ship you are touching. Doesn't matter if it was a friendly ship, but if you overlapped an enemy ship you could still attack a DIFFERENT enemy ship that was an otherwise legal target.
Ships are ships, when it comes to movement/actions they are all the same be it you running into one of yours or one of theirs.
I'll note that there are people who HATE that running into your own ships is just like running into an enemy ship. A lot of this comes from various "fortress" strategies which basically have ships running into other friendlies so that nobody actually does any moving. These strategies have some uses but generally aren't useful all the time but that still has some up in arms that they are broken and that using them is unsportsmanlike because it doesn't fly casual and isn't in the spirit of the game. Of course some of those same people take no issue with various blocking strategies where you try to get your opponent to fly into your ships. Despite that whining the rules are the rules and running into your own ships, even round after round, is just like running into an enemy ships.
Thank you very much. I know the part of able to shoot at other ships when touching enemy ships, Was hoping about bumping into your own ships might cancel your shooting. Have a 4 ship list my buddy runs with Wedge,Airen, and Teb,and a Talos. Wedge Always in the back..Teb eats my little ships alive before i can get to wedge lol.
Well if he keeps bumping them into each other, he's still going to be losing actions. Try to capitalize on that.
