First a bit of background:
Way back when, Marvel comics used to make Star Wars comics. Then the license went to Dark Horse comics, who made them for several years (I think around 20+, but I'm no expert).
Well within the last 5 years, Disney has acquired both Marvel and Lucasfilm. It only makes sense they would want their in-house comic publisher to make their Star Wars comics. Dark Horse's contract expired at the end of 2014. Marvel starts putting out their first Star Wars series NEXT WEEK.
STAR WARS #1 hits store shelves on January 14. It follows the OT cast on adventures between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Exactly the time period this game is written for.
There will also be a Darth Vader comic starting in February, and a Princess Leia 5 issue mini series starting in March.
I have no idea if these are considered canon. But I'm looking forward to it. Marvel is putting some of their best talent on the books.
