Can we get a Skirmish Sub-forum?

By spacemonkeymafia, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Just curious as I don't play a lot of the campaign and would like to see threads specific to the Skirmish side of things. Also, if I did have a campaign question, I'd hate to have to wade through all the Skirmish talk. I can only assume that Skirmish will gain momentum as it heads into its first tournament season and it might be best to keep the camps separate for easy of use.

Seconded. (EDIT: And how about a rules questions sub-forum while we're at it?)

I agree with both of these suggestions: a sub-forum for Skirmish Mode, and a sub-forum for rules.

We were able to get sub-forums in X-Wing by:

  1. PMing a FFG mod and telling them of our desire for such things
  2. Taking the time to poll the user community for the sub-forums desired (choosing the top 4 or so)
  3. Re-Contacting via PM the same FFG mod and providing the results from the poll

Within days, the sub-forums were created.

Yes please :D

Nominations for Sub-Forums would be:

  • Rules Discussion
  • Campaign
  • Skirmish
  • Painting
  • General (?)

I would think General might end up being more-or-less barren, but I can see issues arising with people who get defensive over their subforums 'That doesn't belong here!' and it might be nice to have a place where posts that might not 'belong' can go.

From that perspective, Powda, maybe we just let painting stay in the general forum since it applies to both skirmish and campaign.

@Budge,

Good call, I know mini painters often like to have their own place to discuss the craft, but it could certainly fall closer to the 'general' side of things.

Where do I sign? ??

I, for one, feel that it is a bad idea to advocate for a "General" sub-forum. Perhaps a better idea would be to ask for an Off-Topic forum like we did in X-Wing.

Well, I imagine "General" would not actually be a sub-forum. I should have made that point clear. I think it would just be the default forum when you come to the Imperial Assault forums. Personally, I don't imagine that this game will ever see the traffic that X-Wing does so I hope it never gets an "Off Topic" forum. To me that is just strange. Why come to a game forum to discuss non-game-related things?

where to play(tournaments/play groups?)

I would hope this game would see as much (possibly more) traffic than X-Wing as it's certainly a lot more accessible - and a pretty great game to boot!

I hope so too. It will help the game overall if this site did get more traffic.

I am also working on a community site like swmgamers, Bloomilk, Cardgamedb, afewmaneuvers. The site is not ready yet but soon. Its main focus wil be blog, podcast, Card Gallery, Video, etc but it will have a forum with sections having email register problems.

Campaign

Skirmish

Rules
Organized Play

and a default General like what we're posting in now.

+1 to there being sub forums

Do we really need a rules forum though? If you separate Campaign and Skirmish, as one should, people would go to the type they play or want to discuss. This should be encouraged as rules are different for each game play style.

Giving people the option to go to a rules only discussion board might just get people confused as posters might not define which rule set they are quoting or questioning.

I got it! We'll have sub-sub-forums!! .... On second though, no.

That's a good point about the rules forum needing to be split. Having two games in one product sure does complicate things more than I thought.

I would like to see a skirmish or organized play sub-forum.

Ditto!

+Over 9000!!!

I agree there should be a subforum for Rules Questions and for Skirmish, and that painting should stay in general.

Has anyone contacted the webmaster yet ? Just posting here won't help really.

Nevermind. I've emailed him.
