yt2400 and zoid kit bash

By thebigeb2589, in X-Wing

So my 2400 came with a droopy gun but instead of bothering the awesome people at ffg customer service (I mean that they are freaking awesome and will replace anything) I decided to fix it up myself. First thing was to figure out what to replace it with, well I went digging in my box of scrap model stuff and the las cannons and army men 50 cals just weren't doing it for me and then I saw it (cue the celestial music) an old cannon from a zoid model only slightly larger than the original in length, a bit beefier but double barrel and some sweet detail. Plus it would totally fit story wise to say it's a HLC turret (which obviously Dash can take).

One small problem though, the stock Cannon had a male plug and the zoid one had a female plug but upon further inspection (cue the celestial sound track again) it would appear that if I could remove the female plug then the base of the original cannon should fit right in.

Out came the dremmel and sure enough it fit. A little bit of glue and boom! Super hlc turret. Paint to come eventually for now it's going to stay green probably till at least this weekend. Enjoy for now :)http://thebigeb2589.tumblr.com/post/107475743246/so-my-2400-came-with-a-droopy-gun-well-a-little

You have ZOIDS?!

Nerd...

Thats really cool

I recently picked up a load of the rereleased 2005 era zoids for about £15 at a charity shop. Might use them for similar conversions and making 40k stuff

Do it! The zoid stuff is so detailed it works really well.

Tell your Zoids my Zoids said "Hi!"

That aside, I like the look of the new turret.

I just made up a list on eBay of a lot of very cool bits to make my SCUM Huge Ships up sexy like. There are some very very good bits in 40K that work for our models. The Zoids and some Micro Machines are awesomeness too of course.

;)

I miss my Zoids. ;(.

:mellow::huh:^_^

The thing that stops me using the zoid bits is i can see them being quite collectable in a few years and currently they are boxed and fully working

Big kits like 'red scavenger'

Time to cut into 'em, particularly the Tau and Marines.

Chop-chop= X-Wing Custom Glory!

I used to have this when i was a kid. Zoidzilla and a bunch of the "red zoids" smaller creatures/vehicles.

Tau bits would be pretty good with all those attachments you couldn't possibly add to a Crisis suit or Riptide.

Yeah and they have turrets and missile pods for my Assault Carriers that look perfect for the scale.

I think a lot of the kits are currently billed as collectable, especially the original runs in the 80s. I've got a few from way back then, though mine are all assembled.

Aww man I loved zoids as a kid, never understood why they haven't made a come back when so much trash from the 80s has.

They made a lot of them, but most of it doesn't make it out of japan. And they just aren't as cool as those vintage blue vs red zoids.

They did rerelease zoids about 2005

some kits were classics we knew from the 80s 'red scavneger', 'slitherzoid' etc.

Others were more like the giant panther ones and the wolves with big cannons on their backs

Also the HMM (High-End Master Model) line, in about 2006-7. This seems to have petered out, unfortunately. They were/are basically the Zoids version of a Master Grade or Perfect Grade Gundam kit.
