Isard's Ability

By Dragontalon486, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hey everyone, not sure if this has already been asked but can I take Isard on a ship that has evade built in, and if I can use her ability to get a second evade. Also does her ability use up the extra action if I have push the limit on a ship?

She gives a free Evade action. So as long as you haven't used the Evade action already that turn, you're good to go. Getting an Evade token assigned, or given, to the ship doesn't count against the action - just the rule that you cannot take the same action twice in one turn, free or not.

It's a free action, so you don't need the action icon. But you can only perform an action once per round.

Her ability triggers at the start of the Combat phase, so it can't be used as PtL's second action but it can trigger PtL.

Thanks. That was kinda hanging me up there.

So I could have PtL activate twice or am I just misunderstanding what you said?

You could have PTL activate twice..... if you can find a way to get rid of the stress between (Wingman?)

How it would work:

Move

Perform action

Trigger PtL for second action (gain stress)

Start of Combat - Wingman

Use Isard's ability

Trigger PtL for a second action (gain stress)

You can't trigger Isard's ability if you have a stress, as it is an action, and you can't perform actions while stressed.

okay, thanks.

The cheese god has forgotten that Push the limit specifies that it can only be used once per round. That single use can be triggered whenever you perform an action though. So the sequence would be

Reveal dial

Execute maneuver

Perform regular action

Begin combat phase, triggering Isaard

Perform evade action with Isaard, triggering push the limit

Perform action in action bar with push the limit

Gain stress from push the limit

If you triggered PTL off of your normal action you would gain a stress and then not be able to use Isaard in the combat phase (unless you had some way of getting rid of the stress first). Isaard does not add the evade action to the ships action bar, so unless the ship has evade normally it can't perform an evade action outside of when Isaard allows it to. You can never perform the same action twice in one round, no matter what. So even if the ship she is on is able to take the evade action normally, doing so will prevent you from taking that action when Isaard triggers.

This doesn't work. PTL says "Once per round".

Yeah, Forgottenlore mentioned that.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

If PtL could be used any number of times that would almost mean Tycho would get to take every action on his bar every single turn.

Isard gives a free Action. You can't perform the same action more than once. If you happen to be stressed then you will not be able to use that free Action.

What about if you are touching another ship?

What about if you are touching another ship?

Touching doesn't stop you from performing actions. Overlapping denies your perform action step during the activation phase. That's not the same.

What about if you are touching another ship?

You aren't prohibited from taking actions while in contact with another ship. You skip your Perform Action step if you are the one that bumps but anything that grants you an action outside of that will work.

Sweet!
