A little late but better late than never

By RexlarBrath, in X-Wing Battle Reports

One of my fellow x-wingers convinced me to type up a battle report but this is from sunday, December 28. There was a small local tournament in a hobby store near me and I went in with a rebel stress list.

I finished first place with a record of 4-0, going undefeated. My list was:

Eaden vrill (32)

Recon specialist (3)

Keyan farlander (29)

Veteran instincts (1)

Fire control system (2)

B-wing/E2 (1)

Tactician (2)

"Dutch" vander (23)

Ion-cannon turret (5)

R3-A2 (2)

Total: 100 points

The thing I like most about this list is how the ships are close to each other in cost so they all pull even weight. Back to my battles in the tourney.

My first round I was up against an outer rim smuggler, hwk 290, and I can't remember the last ship, I apologize, I believe it was a b-wing but I could be mistaken. I took out two ships and lost two ships, I believe the end game was Eaden vs. ORS circling with turret shots. His ORS had c3po making him a pain in the but to finish but it worked. I narrowly escaped with a 3 point victory 68-65

My second round I was up against a decimator and firespray build. At first I was a little intimidated. But I went in ready for anything especially with his decimator fueling keyan's ability with stress. I took out the decimator first and my b-wing and y-wing had fallen. At the end my opponent had a weakened firespray and flew through debris clouds giving himself stress 2 turns in a row and no shot at Eaden. So I ended that match with a full win 100-65 points.

In my third round I played against a guy who drove a few hours to get out there. He had krassis trelix with HLC, howlrunner with swarm tactics, and 3 academy pilots. I set up the asteroids on one side of the mat, and we started in opposing corners. As my plan had intended he flew right into the asteroids splitting his formation. I took one of his academy pilots and he pounded Dutch. The next round I took out howlrunner and he finished off Dutch. The rest of the game went by and no ships went down and the game time had ended. We totaled up the points destroyed and I won by 2 points! I was excited, and completely shocked. The luck of that win was incredible especially after a 3 point win already today.

For my final round I was once again up against a decimator and firespray squad. My opponent was my teacher and he introduced me to the game. We were both 3-0 at this point and I had never beaten him before, but now I knew it was my turn to win especially after already beating a similar list. First I drew him over to my side of the play area and his decimator came in barreling with rebels in front of his lasers. He target locked, experimental interface-d, and exposed. This first stress was the beginning of the end as i stressed him with Dutch and a third time with keyan and tactician. He had weakened Eaden down to one shield and now it was Eaden's turn to shoot and he landed a crit on his decimator which turned out to be the blinded pilot card, no shooting for him next round. After that I removed stress from Dutch and k-turned with keyan while Eaden stayed on his target, flying right in front of him. The second turn of shooting I landed another blinded pilot crit on him. But he had vrill down to 2 hull. The next round I beat the decimator and had Dutch and keyan at full health at a slightly weakened boba fett. He had recon specialist which helped his surviving lift and lone wolf, which being alone helped a lot. I finished off his firespray and won 100-35 and my undefeated list had proved its value.

The surviving lift part is a typo I meant survivability, sorry

Congratulations! Sounds like you had some close calls, but that just makes the game more exciting, and the victory all the sweeter.

You faced some lists that kind of surprised me. Do many people fly Firesprays alongside their Decimators? Here the Decimator is exclusively supported by TIE fighters or a TIE phantom.

Your build sounds fun. I tried an Eaden Vrill squad, and it was so much fun! But it was against "Whisper" and "Echo" and we got schooled.

I didn't think there were a ton of firespray-decimator lists that were popular but those were the only i saw. And there weren't any phantoms at the tournament but if there were im sure I would've found a way to be triumphant

When I left you I was the pupil, now I am the master. Spoiled..... no good....... teenager. LOL. Good win. Not only was his build great counter to everything but he also outflew me. Rematch.. after school at the flagpole....

I really like your list!

Awesome man! I'm very anxious to fly my 2400 for the first time. Glad to see a 2400 other than super Dash won too! I played a decimator, but it was supported by 2 TIE's (mauler and dark curse I think) and got smoked with my 5 ship reb swarm I like to run with roark. I think if I continue that list I'll add r3-a2 to keep some key ships without actions.

I think action economy and green maneuvers are going to become even more important with builds like mine being successful.
