No hero sheets for Luke Skywalker; Han Solo etc.?

By Joespeed2, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi there,

just bought this game and played the tutorial. Read the rules as well.

My concern is: As Luke, Han etc. don't have a hero sheet, I can't use them in campaign games; is this right? So, I'm forced to Play with one of the 6 characters which could wipe out a Vader (who doesn't have a hero sheet either) quite easily?

Thanky for answers!

Han, Luke, Chewie and so on are available as allies to the heroes after specific missions.

The iconic characters are designed as allies. They aren't the heroes of the game.

That would be the six characters Fantasy Flight spent great effort to create.

Here's hoping that new heroes are created in the future though. I'm enjoying the six the game came with, but hope new heroes will also bring new campaigns.

Would be interesting to se a system to convert RPG characters over to Imperial Assault.

Ok, thx for answers, but I really would like to see a hero sheet for every hero.. Even for the dark side heroes.. so you could play campaigns the other way round.. :-)

Another questions: so it wouldnt make sense to Play the campaign with the smaller character cards (which are not double-sided)?

The campaign is rebels using the big hero cards versus Imperials using huge numbers of the little cards.

The smaller character cards for the heroes are intended for the Skirmish game rather than the Campaign. I'll admit it threw me off a little bit, but once I read through everything it made a lot of sense. The heroes are heroes of the campaign, so they have their cards. I have little doubt that new hero packs will eventually be released, but for the moment, the expansions are basically Allies and Villains, first to fill out the figures that are represented by the cardboard counters in the core game, and eventually full on expansion sets. I look at what is currently available for Descent as a guide for what is to come...

This is one of those cases where it's very good to look up information on a game before you buy it. I think using different heroes in this game than the heroes from the movie was a good choice because 1) it adds novelty and gives us new spins on old archetypes, 2) it doesn't mess with the canon and what we expect should happen to the heroes.

As for Vader, how are the heroes taking him down very easily? He has 16 health or something absurd like that and 2 black defense dice. Plus, he always gets to reroll one defense die and unlike Diala, doesn't need Strain to do it.

I understand why you would want to have cards for the movie heroes. At least for me though, I like the way they did it. By not playing the movie heroes whose participation wouldn't make sense in a lot of these missions - let alone in later time periods where Han is frozen in carbonite, Lando and Chewie have split up from the group, etc., it feels like your character's actions could almost be a part of Star Wars cannon as opposed to contradicting it.

I am looking forward to eventually modding the missions for a "Rebel Assault" campaign. Though given this great community and the one on BGG, it is likely someone will already have it for us.

i would love to see an ESB tile set with Hoth and Bespin with some new heros(leia/Lando), some new Bounty Hunters (all of em), and some new skirmish models, as well as loot and stuff. It would be easy to do a ROTJ for jabbas palace/endor as well with alternate Luke/Han/Vader models as well as adding the emporer. Id like to see those before more expanded universe stuff.

Also note that, in the unlikely case that the heroes drop Vader in a campaign mission

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Unlike Descent, when allies and villians are defeated in a campaign game, they are not out forever, just out for that mission. And if you have played against Vader, you would realize very quickly that he is a Force to be reckoned with and a single hero is not going to take him down, in fact, quite the opposite is true.

What i am *asssuming* is that when the expansion packs come out, there will be additonal hero sheets for the campaign for "unnamed" models, such as a named Rebel Saboteur, or a named Rebel Trooper, in additon to mission and thier skirmish cards, but not for "named" models, such as Han or Chewie.

That's an interesting thought, but if you're talking about the packs that have been announced, nothing in the announcement suggests there will be hero sheets for those figures. They will all be used as allies and villains only (hence the name "Ally Pack" and "Villain Pack". You buy those packs for 1 of three reasons:

1) A figure to replace the cardboard token used for allies and villains in the base game

2) New skirmish command cards and skirmish missions

3) New side missions and agenda sets for the campaign

As of now, we have no confirmation how new hero sheets will be distributed.
