Ok here is my wish list..

Places - cloud city, mos eisley, jabbas palace, endor, hoth.

I'd really like to see more fleshed out characters. I wanna know each character's personality and history (beyond just a quick blurb on their character specific missions). Like I said earlier, I'd like more characters to chose from, but I'd also like a half-page bio on each character. More detailed characters makes the game more of an RPG, and helps the player immerse him/herself into the world.

Luke isn't just Character X who can use the force a bit and has a lightsaber. He's a brash kid who's spent his whole life wanting to be more than just a moisture farmer. He spent every extra credit he had growing up to supe up his speeder and T-16. He bickers with his uncle, and dreams of following his best friend into the rebellion.

All of that stuff comes from BEFORE the plot of A New Hope. I know the argument of letting the player develop the character with the story, but I wanna know the starting point.

Does Jyn get along with Gideon? Is DIala prideful, thinking of herself as a Jedi? What's the story behind a soldier (the quintessential 'team player') becoming a 'Lone Wolf'?

It doesn't take much to create a decent bio for the characters, and it would really improve the Star Wars-yness of the game, as well as the RPG elements to the game.

I think they left out this so we could make our own backstory. Ideally even though this is a game, it's mostly a story. Who says we can't go crazy and invent the backstory ourselves? Maybe Diala and Fenn are lovers? Maybe Gaarkhan is only along because he owes a life debt to Mak (too fishy if his debt is to Jyn, a smuggler.. Right? Lol). Maybe Gideon and Fenn served together? Honestly I like that it's like this.. We can create our own stories and tie it into the game.

My kids absolutely love the new Star Wars Rebels show. I hope they make some heroes or allies of those characters to further get my children into board gaming MUWHAAHAHAH

I don't mind Vader appearing.

Vader eats Jedi for breakfast, If one of the hero's uses the force then Vader has a reason to take an interest.

Alternatively I, as the emperor, can order Vader to make sure this campaign succeeds by including his agenda set.

Third, add a big box expansion that swaps the roles with heroes being imperial agents, and the rebels being the goons. That would allow for a major expansion path in the breadth of models available to the game and easily double the longevity.

as i was reading this thread i was thinking the same exact thing.. this would be great it would give the people always playing rebels the chance to play imps.. and vice versa.

cheers to that

I just noticed last night that the rebel troopers and saboteurs have reinforcement costs on them, which serve no purpose in skirmish or as allies in campaign...

For the 1st expansion, Hoth themed... that is all.

There is some scope for that and it would indeed give something for them, )unless of course reinforcement command cards or similar appear).

As a mini perhaps, I just can't see a full large campaigns worth of content from Hoth. We see the empires full involvement in Hoth during the movie period. Including it as a structured part of a campaign might work (couldn't have many side missions as they would be odd), or possibly as a smaller expansion. As either the end or beginning of a larger campaign expansion possibly.

The other option is a mini-campaign included with an AT-AT expansion.

I can see a lot of mission options for Hoth, I agree that the side missions would break what would have to be a fairly tight timeline though.

Once they start using the 'time period' element though that could be mitigated.

Retrieving a damaged probe droid, rescuing Lukes pog collection from the Wampa cave, interfering with Imperial deployment, escorting other key rebel leaders through the evacuation, ensuring the evacuation is a success on board a star destroyer, rescuing captured rebels.

It's not as character/enemy rich as tatooine, but there's a lot of scope still.

A Hoth campaign would be good.

I would also like to see a Dark Forces campaign and a Shadows of the Empire campaign setting.

That would make a good short campaign. I'd do it with a different structure to rest of the game with a more branching structure and mission choices/mission results affecting the Imp players resources in the fixed points. Due to its nature I'm not sure it would fit in the way that side missions are supposed to bring variety and would feel a might self contained.

As a result I'd likely suggest it as a 3 mission finale to a wider reaching campaign. That would allow many side missions to come through, and have related side and story missions that can deal with events up to Hoth. Tell as many stories as we can without the limitations an eentire campaign on Hoth would entail. It would also go a fair way to doing something to fill in that 3 year gap that the core campaign has started to fill between the films...

It also preserves Hoth as an Epic set piece.

Just using the core game and wave 1 as precedent, I imagine we'll get some sort of extra campaign box with new FFG-created heroes, several Rebel ally/mook tokens and models, several Imperial and Scum tokens and models.

The core game's heroes are FFG-created to explore stories related to but outside the realm of the actual Star Wars movies. I expect any additional heroes will be the same, and the use of any big names will only ever be allies.

We'll definitely see more blister packs, so included units will likely be split between models included in the campaign box itself, and models that need to be bought to replace tokens that come with the box (as well as whatever other perks comes in the blister packs).

As someone who will be inevitably playing The Bad Guys, I'd love to see more bounty hunters, a rancor, variant Imperial mooks, and any big names that may seem appropriate in a game system where combat is heavily used, such as Mara Jade.

So an expansion wave may be something like...

CAMPAIGN BOX

-All the bits you need for new story missions

-2 to 4 new heroes

-Obi-Wan model

-Leia token

-R2-D2 token

-Rebel mook X token set

-Rebel mook Y token set

-Boba Fett model

-Imperial big name X token

-Imperial/Scum mook X models

-Imperial/Scum mook Y models

-Imperial/Scum mook Z token set

BLISTER EXPANSIONS

Leia

R2-D2

Rebel mook X

Rebel mook Y

Imperial big name X

Imperial/Scum Y mook variant (similar to the AT-ST core vs. AT-ST blister)

Imperial/Scum Z mook

OR SOME VARIATION OF. I'm hardly a Star Wars lore expert so I wouldn't quite know what to fill all the generalities with, but the big picture remains. I find it entirely likely it'll be very similar to the first wave of releases: some campaign-in-a-box with some models and some tokens, then blisters to replace the tokens and beef up Skirmish armies.

I hope they do a rebel and tie pilot miniatures I know x-wing players will buy them :P

I think we're on slightly different wavelengths. Thematically, you are right. It would be a little strange to have Jabba in a battle. But then, I find it hard to believe the hero characters in this game can attract the attention of Darth Vader himself. Doesn't that feel a little forced to you?

I agree with all except the Jedi.

I feel like Vader sees any remainig Jedi as an ultimate failure on his part as he sort of led the Great Purge. So having the Jedi on the band of heroes almost makes me expect to see vader pissed at the end of each mission Dr. Claw style from inspector gadget.

Good point about Vader. I'd argue that I'm fine with having Jabba, or any and every other notable character in the game. It's not that I truly expect our band of heroes to attract them... but rather I want them for Skirmish, and for custom campaigns. I don't really the story of the core campaign needs to take us to meet Boba Fett, Lando, C-3PO and the Emperor.... but I still want these packs available for OTHER reasons, and thus I want to see them as official expansions. Mostly for skirmish though.

All the desires regarding expansion adventures and settings in this thread hinge entirely upon FFG's licensing agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm. FFG's rights to produce content is very much dependent upon that license agreement, and we've all seen FFG lose licensing agreements before.

Admittedly, FFG can make a good argument for the popularity of the game and the continued income from expansions, upgrades, and booster packs, but anything FFG could pay them is a drop in the ocean compared to Disney's revenues. In fact, I could see the success of Imperial Assault working against it and Disney/Lucasfilm wanting to bring it "in house" to produce. I'm sure the chance of that is really freakin' small, but it could happen.

That fact always scares me with Star Wars stuff.

Everything I've read is that Disney/Lucasfilm is really happy with FFG mainly due to their treatment in the X-Wing game. Hopefully this convinces them to let FFG keep the license for a while or maybe even get the Board Game license from Hasbro!

A more likely scenario is that Hasbro buys Fantasy Flight, and wraps it all into WotC, just like they did with Avalon Hill.

I have no issues with Vader appearing in the scenarios. The Rebel players cause enough havoc, and merely being known associates of Luke Skywalker (Dark Obsession) is enough to attract Vader's undivided attention. I also think Fett is likely to make an appearance. After all, he's gotta disintegrate someone before Empire Strikes Back. :-)

Hasbro would have to buy asmodee and not FFG, which is very unlikely.

From everything I've read and seen in interviews, the partnership between Fantasy Flight Games and Lucasfilm/Disney is pretty rock solid. Will this change with the Asmodee merger? That's to be seen.

But their partnership has gone so far as to create new ships and characters in the Star Wars universe. Is this new material canon? Who knows. But the point is, Disney is willing to work with FFG on creating new content. Versus an easier route and telling FFG that they can only use all the big name, big money-making characters.

It also seems that FFG's license agreement includes pretty much the entire Star Wars universe. And they've just confirmed that they'll be creating new games for Episode 7.

There could be a scenario that Disney buys a big name toy maker like Hasbro or Mattel and then pulls back their licenses. But it seems Disney's partnership team is pretty savvy and they understand the hardcore gaming market is really niche and needs a unique company like FFG.

Also, someone mentioned that FFG has had licenses pulled before. Which ones are you talking about?

Primarily Starcraft and Dust (which is sorta still FFG and partly Battlefront...)

I absolutly need an Asoka Tano mini. There is allready a mini for the Grandinquisitor so I hope Asoka Tano will come too.
And more generic Heros like smugglers and gunslingers. I use the Imperial Assault-minis mainly for p&p so I need more generic heros and villians. : D
