Trying to get started

By Beastson, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello,

I bought Edge of the Empire roughly a year ago with the intention to play this often. Unfortunately people were cancelling and pretty much stopped after playing 8 sessions. We had a lot of fun, but schedules got in the way. Im in the tampa bay area and wanted to see if I could join someone. I have the core rulebook and a 4 other books to the game.

Any other suggestions would be helpful as well.

Does your local game store have a bulletin board? If they do, they often have a "Looking for players" area - post a note there.

Or you can go the high-tech route, with craigslist.

How about friends, gamers or not? This could be a gateway drug for them. Co-workers?

I've had pretty good success with Meetup.com in finding local geeks in your area. I believe Obsidian Portal also has a search mechanism to find active games in your area. Though OP pages tend stagnate when they die. So it's likely most of the games logged in OP aren't active.

If it doesn't have to be face-to-face, there's always a plethora of online games. I got started that way, and my current group has people from Virginia, Kentucky, California, and Canada.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will have to try some of these out. I have tried my local gaming store with no success. I should try the comic shop I go to, since they have a lot of gaming there too. I have tried work and friends, but a lot of them arent into RPGs or anything like that. Meetup.com seems like a good option. Never heard of it, so I will def look into that.
