Team Covenant Aces League

By Kelvan, in X-Wing

Google docs is blocked at work so I'll have to wait to get the fantasy docs updated until tonight. First priority will be getting week 2 lists up so people can make entries and then I'll go back and get last nights games stats in so we can see the full results of week 1.

Oh ya, if you're interested in joining the fantasy then don't worry about missing week 1, join away, your worst 4 weeks get dropped from your total anyway :)

ps- you were 4 for 6 on last week's predictions K, not bad.

My favorite match week 2 is Froggies vs Sideslip is my favorite match as far as builds go for week 2. A list built to fight squirrely list vs a high ps squirrely list.

Aggressors and the tie advanced see a lot of play this week.

Texx v Kelvan Tuesday at 8:30 CST

Sideslip vs Froggies tonight 10pm central time. Win or lose I'm so looking forward to this match up.

I'll be keeping an eye on how Dom's list does, this is the real test of Aaron Bonar's 2-Phantom list that took 3 out of 4 spots in a Store Championship. But those 3 players were probably the best there, so now we see how it does against a known good (understatement) player.

StarSlinger's list is verbatim what I have in my List Guide, except for Outmaneuver instead of Predator, so I am interested in seeing how this one turns out! I still like Predator over Outmaneuver, mostly just from running the numbers.

I love KO's list, but I personally wouldn't be gutsy enough to put Dead Man's Switch on all 4 ships. I would rather save some points and put a hull or shield upgrade on Suhlak. But this is KO, so you know he is going to take smoething slightly oddball and make it work well. Cluster Missiles on him is devastating, especially against low AGI Oicunn.

I was theorycrafting almost this exact same IG88CD list, except HLC on one and drop Ion on the other, or Mangler and drop Dampeners. I think PS6 beats PS5 here.

This will be an interesting matchup. Texx has a lot of crits he can land on the Rear Admiral, but not much in the way of maneuverability, despite Vader being PS9. Maarek landing crits on the Admiral will be ludicrously good, but he has to catch you first.

Edit:

Theorists IG88 list: Expert Handling gives a lot of options, at the expense of action economy (no PtL, no IG88C for free evade via boost). But IG88B's gunner HLC is a big deal against those juicy AGI3 targets, especially 3HP Fel. Theorist will certainly try and spread his arcs out to lock down Soontir, but he still moves before Fel. Vader should be able to dodge both IG88s even better than Fel (not restricted to greens), but 16HP behind 3 AGI is a LOT of durability to chew through. I'm not sure which aggressor to go after first. I would probably expect Theorist to win this one, but it could be close. Mu0n will have to fly perfectly to dodge arcs in order to win. For me personally, I would rather have Vader/Whisper/Fel than Mu0n list's, despite losing stealth on Fel and Engine on Vader. Either way you still have 2 arc dodgers. Intelligence Agent is nice, but it is hard to see exactly how Mu0n can leverage that information, espeically since his other 2 ships move at PS9 anyway.

Seems like it'll be hard to keep them in arc with the higher ps. Forward arc seems almost impossible.

Edit. Brainfart. Ha ha. I'll update. :-)

I predict a draw between Kinetic and Morgan this week! Deadman's Switch for the win...err draw!

Alright finalized the stats from the first week, looks like Academy Pilots were the best bang for your buck if you were able to choose the ones that both survived and got a kill or two... there were also a few at the bottom of the list as well though so it's kind of like playing Academy Roulette.

Looks like I managed to squeak out the fantasy win week one with a great performance by KineticOperator flying Echo in the final match of the week... that doesn't look suspicious at all...

I think the MrFroggies v Sideslip game happened last night (trying to get the logs now) but there's still 5 matches, or 1000pts of ships worth to choose from for this week so still plenty of choices and time to enter!

Morgan v KineticOperator is happening in 15min.

Morgan v KineticOperator is happening in 15min.

I'm definitely going to have to watch the replay. Good luck, guys.

Morgan v KO was wild. KO got Whisper early and Oicunn won. That is not how I would expect that to go with an early Whisper death.

Dom just beat Paul. Paul killed Dark Curse early, but Whisper did 3 direct hits to Han on a single attack (!). Han and the Fringer killed Echo, and the game ended with a 2 hull Whisper versus a mostly healthy Fringer. Whisper managed to bring the Fringer without taking any damage.

That was a crazy game.

Looks like we have another result. Sozin 100- StarSlinger 34!

There will be a grand total of 3 undefeateds at the end of round 2. Wow!

Tyler's Vader was unceremoniously Injured Pilot critted in the first round of fire, and died in the second round of fire. He wiggled around creatively after that, but his green dice didn't collaborate for him. (Neither did mine - rolled four blanks with Soontir against a R3 attack - good thing for autothrusters; I then stoopidly ran soontir into the side of the Patrolman and got him killed, but at that point it was Patrolman and Tempest versus lone Tempest.)

I'm 3 games behind on the stats, getting caught up tonight :)

Wow! Great turret vs. phantoms game. And the first time I've seen three crits get caused at aonce and them all be Direct Hit. Ouch!

In my game vs Theorist, Vader rolled a range 1 attack, with a Target Lock (but it wasn't used) on an IG-2000 and I rolled 3 natural crits, bumped to 4 crits because of advanced targeting computer. None of the crits were direct hits (3 got through) and the hapless IG survived at 1 hull.
