Campaign mode?

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing

Most of the scenarios that come with the large expansions are really fun.

I got Imperial Assault for Christmas and am really excited to try out the campaign mode.

What if FFG did something similar for Xwing?

Essentially have 2-4 rebel players vs 1 imperial player. I think it would be really fun for the Rebel payers, They'd feel like they were in their own little squadron together.

There could be special rules or something. Each of them has their own pilot ability that stays with them no matter which ship their flying or whatever.

Bottom line, a multi mission campaign mode with 4 Rebel players teaming up against 1 imperial player would be really fun.

Hell, FFG could probably tie this into the IA campain, as well as have an option for an X-Wing only campaign.

thoughts?

I'm actually quite surprised they haven't done a campaign system for it. It seems they've left it up to the players to design. Dagobah Dave has a good little campaign system that's worth checking out.

I am currently working a system like this! You earn experience to buy upgrades, wingmen, new craft, pilot skill and abilities, etc...

I have included solo missions so they can use the simulator when we can't get our group together.

I, the "GM" would be playing the Imperials, and prepare one or two missions a session.

Also to sweeten the deal, we would be able to proxy a personal card for them! Hope it works out too, looking forward to it.

I'm hoping for a campaign system that combines X wing and Armada!

I'll be putting both Imperial Assault and Armada games into my campaign system to keep things varied.

The trick to this is NOT to try and 'merge' the games - use the campaign rules to bridge other games onto a single 'primary' game - this means you can (in a gaming session) play one game or the other, without having to worry about having a 'side table' to play x-wing.

Anyone who ever tried to do Epic 40,000 firefights as WH40k games will tell you - it's very cool in concept, utterly unworkable in practice, unless you're in a studio environment where things can be left set up for weeks at a time.

Do you have a link to it, I did a quick search and can't seem to find even his account. Thanks

I've seen it... The part i don't like is seperating pilots / ships, rest is sound.

The Epic ships come with campaigns and they are very fun!

They are ok for 1 shot. I'd like a narrative campaign system though, or even an FFG campaign pack.

There are a few epic campaigns on Mission Control, too.

Dagobah Dave might be DagobahDave. I can't recall. He makes a bunch of .pdf's for various games that are pretty darn cool. Papercraft stuff. Buildings for DnD or minis games and some space stuff, too. Some can be used for X-wing.

I was writing a campaign covering 4 acts, may have to re-get into that when i have time...

You rang? Visit the link in my signature and scroll down to "Resources" for my campaigns and stuff. No guarantee they're any good. :)

Yeah, I was able to find you once I searched without the space. Should have thought of that. I can't pull it up where I am at because the site is blocked. I will check it out when I get home. Thanks.

I thought he'd chime in eventually. ;)
