Question, since you guys seem familiar about the lore of 40k. Is Warhammer fantasy universe and 40k universe the same universe, And how do the two tie in if so? Are Eldar highelves, woodelves, and dark elves somehow?, does Empire become imperial guard/space marines? Ect. I really want to read those novels as well.

They are not the same universe technically

Currently they are not the same universe. Altough there are rumours that they will be more mixed in the 9th edition of the Warhammer Fantasy miniature game. Which in turn may or may not mean the mixing of this again... Altough back in the day (way back in the day) the lore wasn't totally big enough to really say there was much difference...

As such I think it's interesting to note that from the 4th Edition of Warhammer Fantasy and 3rd from Warhammer 40K the universes got more split.

- Altough there still can be made some discussion about the Empire's Sigmar (from Warhammer Fantasy) actually being a Primarch because he dissapeared after basicly mowing down every enemy from the Empire (one of the human factions).

- The Warhammer 40K universe also has some options for mixing the two universes together. Since there still are 2 unknown Primarch's who's fate is only known as being doomed. The only thing we know about them is that parts of these Legions have been handed to the Ultra Marines chapter, hence they where the biggest Legion during the Horus Heresy.

They are not the same universe technically

In short, I fully agree! :D

they were one universe in 3d edition (specifaclly stated on page 77 of Realms of chaos: the lost and the damned.) but GW retconned that.

The funny thing is, from what Ive heard, they plan to mix them in again more with 9th edition...

On the other side the rumours of 9th edition are all quite extreme. I remember the same was true for 8th and after all the game didn't change on a gigantic scale.

I know that the slann are calling exodus, leaving the warhammer world... Question is where will they go to hmmm? It could quite possibly be the 40k universe. (Makes sense for them really as they were part of 40k during Rogue trader, and they are servants of the Old ones.)

We'll find out whan 9th comes out. And, based on the speed that gw keeps bringing out new 40k editions, that could be next month.

Speaking of warhammer. Since Invasion is done maybe we should homebrew some warhammer fantasy: Conquest.

Change planets to lands (Countries/empires?) and we're good to go.

Nagarond

Ulthuan

Lustria

Kemri

Lorien

Britonnia

The Empire

World edge mountains

The Badlands

Chaos wastes

Any ideas about wether or not to adopt the alliance wheel?

That's interesting. I've been playing Warhammer fantasy since 4th ed. Wonder if GW's 'End times' will actually be end times this time?

Oh I really like that idea aswell, altough this one is far from finished...

Warning spoilers ahead!

After skimming trough the Nagash book: Ow yeah this is a good reboot of storm of chaos (It always should have been Nagash vs Arachaon, and not Valten and that bloody ork...)

After reading trough Glotkinn: Ok ok it's still good, they can rebuild, Altdorf is gone but the Empire isn't done, yet...

After glancing trough Malekith: Ultuan sank beneath the waves, the magic vortex is gone, and the elves woke up Khaine! OUCH! ...and the lizardmen are running away! Yup, warhammer world is gettin destroyed.

I don't know if GW will end the world for good, but I don't see how they gonna continue the warhammer setting. Because, let's face it, chaos is winning! Hard!

And i wouldn't even mind. Archaon vs Nagash...It would be a bit of a book end, if you know what i mean.

Chaos vs Undead to end the world. Just like the cover of first edition (chaos warrior vs skeleton)

Nice! Thanks man now I can tell my buddies lol. I want to get my hands on those books too.

I really liked those books, got them in hard cover, and now book 4 Thanqiol came out and those utter bastards at GW decided to make it sofcover only! Hardback was anounced in a previous white dwarf but gw went back on that and made it a limited exclusive- I oughtta sue them for false advertisment..

So my advice is if you wanna have them, get a soft cover, but even those are a bit expensive. Ofcourse if you look around on the web you can find some PDF scans...

Yeah GW getting so pricey on their stuff it's unreal.

luckily we got FFG to get our warhammer/40k fix from.

Im also still willing to bet money we will eventually see a Battlefleet Gothic FFG miniature game.

I would be in for a full 100% after having seen what they did for Star Wars.

That might be cutting it a bit to fine for the lawyers... I believe it's in the contract that only GW can make GW miniatures. this is why we only got busts as playing pieces in the Relic boardgame, rather than full minatures.

And yes, we all want starwars vs trek vs 40k space battles, I know. But I don't think we'll be seeing BG any time soon.

Also: Scale. One of the designers for batlefleet gothic mentioned in a old white dwarf that an imperial bomber (as in those fighet/bomber ordnance waves your carriers can launch) are the size of a Jumbo jet. (quite bigger than a Y-wing)

Might be, but still I think GW can have a finger in this aswell as long as FFG creates the game.

In all honesty, I would also love it if GW just made the mini's and FFG created the game. It would probably end up way better, more like WarmaHordes which is a fantastic game with great miniatures.

Oh yeah no doubt about it.

I like sovjet mecha :D

Ok ok... Warmachine and hordes are awesome! I really like the gargantuans. (What GW has giant units? Well, two can play that game!) I also like malifaux, but i don't play any wargames at the moment. (All money towards magic, LCGs and dice!)

Shhhh! These universes should not be mixed into a single topic! Altough I do have another account for that game aswell. (Plus a topic that is on the laylow). While Im still on a break with MTG I do like the idea of Marvel dice people.

Ontopic! My radar suspects Tau spoiler tonight/tomorrow... Will keep you guys updated.

Awww and i was just gonna bring up Mutant Chronicles! :D

Shameless bump. :D

Just started reading Horus Rising, then thought (perhaps already mentioned in this thread) it would be pretty sweet if they released a deluxe expansion around this, maybe treated it more like a "saga" expansion ala LotR.
