Seems like no one likes using the yt 2400???

By bmwrider, in X-Wing

I am still green in this game but I love it and learning to play it.

I got a 2400 for x mas and started searching for posts to learn from and I see only a few posts containing builds/lists and nothing about a player liking it.

Do most of you think its not such a good ship?

I know it can only take 2 more hits than a B wing but it must be stronger some how considering its size.

Could some one help me with a good build for a player trying to find this ships strength and learn to use it.

The YT-2400 is really good and being used a lot.

The Super Dash build is Dash Rendar with Outrider title, Heavy Laser Cannon, Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade and Kyle Katarn crew. It costs 58 points. Keep people out of your range 1 blindspot (the "donut hole") by barrel rolling and keep throwing those 4 red dice. Run whatever you want with him — a few Z-95 Headhunters, a fully loaded Corran Horn, that sort of thing.

This build is all the rage with the kids these days:

Dash + Heavy Laser Canon, Push the Limit, Kyle Katarn, Engine Upgrade, Outrider title

58 points

My problems with the ship come from reading the novel. Short of the "bio alien menace from beyond the galaxy" Dash Rendar is my least favorite EU character. It just felt like the author was trying to be cooler than Han, way too hard. In one scene they invented diamond torpedoes so that Dash could hit them with his cannons but fail to destroy them so plot.

On the other hand the N64 game captured my imagination as few video experiences can.

So I own one, I'll get arround to using it sooner or later, but the best build for it seems to be Fat Dash and a friend and my Decimator can do that while giving me an excuse to play the imperial theme on my phone.

Thanks for chiming in, I am very interested in know what people think.

Yeah its hard to see past something that annoys you, I can't even watch the Jar Jar movies so the latest SW movies are no interest to me.

This is the build that's been killing me a lot lately:

Dash (36) with Lone Wolf (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Outrider (5) and Recon Specialist (3).

Two focuses and the ability to reroll a blank on both offense and defense is tremendously painful. Add in his wingman, Corran Horn (PTL, R2D2, FCS, Hull Upgrade) and it's an absolute bear to get them both down before your list is hamstrung.

I love the abovementioned Dash build. It makes you extremely durable without being as predictable as superdash (having to keep taking those greens). I have played my friend a good number of times and that HLC is a bat that just keeps dropping 4 damage on my opponent. He happened to be running a decimator and it just pounded it to dust. As with anything YMMV, but I think the Outrider is my fave ship to fly right now.

Ran a very similar build to that against a friend of mine a few days back with great success. Dash the same, Corran with R2 D2, Marksmanship, EI and FCS.

That's what happens when FFG releases ships at GenCon six months early. By the time they're actually released they've become old news.

I ran Dash w/ title, HLC, Lando, and...don't remember my EPT...

Lando + PTL though? Yes please...

Yeah, Dash is where it is at right now. But do not forget that Leebo is pretty good himself, and Vrill is a great counter to the 'Super Dash' build...

Overall the 2400 is a great ship and you will have a great time flying it!

If you hate above ps7 opponent ships (like a ps8 echo or ps9 whisper, especially), you can add proton rockets to your Dash58 build and create an extremely lethal dead zone at range 1 in front of dash. It can provoke a phantom (or any higher ps predatory ship) to uneasily get out of a strategic space to your advantage and forego a shot instead of facing your 5 dice (probably with a TL to boot) attack that has a 92% of 5 dice average damage.

I approve of this build Mu0n! And use it well!

Yeah, you just missed the thread after thread after thread of Dash builds.

I have a list with Leebo, Tarn and a Y-Wing that I've enjoyed and seems pretty effective.

just wanted to point out that since the YT has agility 2, Prockets only grant a 4 dice attack

true

4v4 with an offensive stack is still nice,

yes, i've still used it a few times. my opponent actually forgot about the Prockets on two occasions, which was highly amusing.

I thought of you (from the podcast) as soon as I read mu0n's post.

Love the podcast by the way.

Dash has had a pretty solid set-up from the start with him, kyle (crew), push the limit, engine, heavy laser cannon, and outrider title

I bought one to try out turrets, and personally it just felt so unnatural (especially with the range 1 hole) that I never put it on the table again.

One day I'll fly him title-less and see if that feels better

Which is why it doesn't hurt to add Countermeasures to boost your agility by one the turn you plan to fire

Something to keep in mind, if you're seeing a lack of list threads, it's probably because of the new subforum dedicated to list building.

Next time I get a chance to play (hopefully soon), I'm planning on Running Vrill with a pair of Tactician B-Wings. Not sure if that counts, since I haven't actually played it yet.

Re JarJar, I just see him as the reason the Empire had a prejudice against non-humans.
