S&V Upgrades

By Duck of Doom, in X-Wing

After my (admittedly limited) research I've noticed at this point a distinct lack of ships with mech slots. No slots on the M3A Interceptor, none for the Star Viper, nothing for the Aggressor and definitely none for the Z95, HWK, or Firespray.

They leaves us with only one ship able to equip them so far. The Scum Y-Wing.

I can understand that FFG felt the need to support S&V Ys to ensure they could be a viable support option in lists, but I personally would like to see some more ships utilise them.

I imagine the pilots of the S&V faction to be a bit more non-standard when upgrading their ships and the handful of illicits and other faction restricted upgrades don't seem to be enough to really pique my interest on their own. And several pilot abilities predominantly seem skewed towards token theft from other ships, ally or enemy.

Sure we've already got plenty of non-faction restricted upgrades to throw on straight out of the box but kitting out S&V will mostly make it a rehash of existing support lists.

I guess I was hoping it would have a more inventive, dynamic shift with regards to ship upgrades. I know the Accuracy Corrector is set to reignite the flames of fandom love for the Tie Advanced with the new title from the Raider, but that particular example is a broken powerful combo for the Imps.

Where are the broken powerful combos for S&V?? Who wouldn't love to slap an Unhinged Astromech onto an Aggressor or Star Viper and turn that S-loop green to clear a stress and line up a crafty shot.

To me, that's the sort of crafty, wily behaviour one should expect from individuals living on the farthest edge of a vast, uncaring civilisation where the law of the day is kill or be killed because everyone is in it for themselves. And if you're not in it with some sort of edge, you lose the Sabaac Pot.

Agree or disagree if you like, these are just my thoughts on the matter.

Edit: broken

Keep in mind that Rebs only have 3 ships that'll take mechs, and it was FOUR waves before they got the third one. S&V isn't even out yet.

I would like to see the product released and played before someone scream its broken.

If you think that I'm pretty certain you've never used or faced it.

Where are the broken combos for S&V?

There aren't any broken combos because the designers are good at their jobs.

Who wouldn't love to slap an Unhinged Astromech onto an Aggressor or Star Viper and turn that S-loop green

Considering how much the TIE defender pays for a white koiogran...

Okay, I'll freely admit in retrospect I probably should have used the term powerful instead of broken. But isolating three paritcular points of the whole post seriously misconstrues the context and intent behind my thoughts as summed just after 'green' where you finished your final quote.

Responding tl;dr would have been far more polite.

Have you actually looked at the combos that the Salvaged Astromech's have with the Scum Y-wings? There are some really fun combos in there.

As for more ships with the Salvaged Astromech slot, just have some patience. At the very least, the Punishing One will likely have a slot.

This is merely the first release for S&V, I'm sure we'll see another ship with an Unhinged Astromech slot at some point. Eventually.

By the way, have you seen the Illicit Upgrades? There's your crafty, wily underhanded tactics right there.

Here's an easy solution...give scum the V-Wing!

Solution to what?

A lack of S&V ships with astromechs. The V-Wing has a astromech slot, and would be a good fit with this faction.

If we get the jumpmaster, it will be a large base with a salvaged astromech slot.
