Question: Who is an ally?

By Bernie2x, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi,

from the Mission Setup Chapter:

"He may choose any non-Rebel Deployment cards not used in the initial or reserved groups. He cannot choose an ally that he has not gained as a reward. "

Am I missing something or is it never stated if a card is an ally?

I had a look at Vader and that Asassin Droid and neither of them states that it is an ally, I mean they are part of the Ally/Villain Packs, which makes it almost self-explanatory, but only "almost".

Please enlighten me...

regards,

Bernie

The "good" guys are called allys while the "bad" guys are villains. There might come/some characters/creatures who are labeled as neither ally nor villain. And then the wording still enables the Imperial player to select this character/creature (if gained)

Allies

During a campaign, players can gain access to special figures as mission rewards. These figures are collectively referred to as allies.

• All figures corresponding to Rebel Deployment cards are allies. All figures corresponding to unique Imperial Deployment cards (such as “Darth Vader”) are villains. Villains follow all general ally rules listed in this section.

Hi,

you think every Imperial Deployment card is a "villain" and every Rebel Deployment Card is an "ally"?

I cannot really believe that, as it would mean that I have to gain Stormtroopers as a reward, and I guess there is no way to do that. From what I've seen only "Characters" are awarded. But then there is a thin line between the "Rebel Troopers" Ally Pack being any more "Character" than three Stormtroopers.

ha! That's it, it's not as specific as I'd like it, but it will do...

thanks!

I don't "think" the rebel cards are named "Allies"/"Ally"; the reference I quoted says so. It also clarifies a minor omission/mistake on my part; it's only the unique Imperial deployment cards that are called villains.

Unique in this instance refers to deployment cards with the square symbol in front of their name which is another defined rule term. Not unique as in individual.
