2015 Store Championship Results

By MajorJuggler, in X-Wing

Finally got the D20 Games Alameda one entered. thanks guys!

There are lots of Decimators in there Looks like people are enjoying their new ships. :)

Yeah, pretty crazy.

Quick summary was:

5 Phantoms, 3 Defenders (!), 1 Boba (!) 11 turret ships, 10 lists with them, 6 decimators, 3 YT2400, 2 YT1300, and NO FAT HANS

Boba finished 2nd and Vessery 3rd with their Chiraneau escort. :)

Hmm PTL seems to be beating predator, personally I will be very interested in watching that relationship as the season progresses (my bet is PTL pulls further ahead on predator when wave 6 hits, but both will probably rise in overall usage when that happens)

I think as long as the named Phantoms are still around, VI will be competitive (for PS8 or below pilots) against PTL/Predator... wish I could take both... (on anything besides an A-Wing)

i head on the big bad trade thread that store champs have started, do we have any results in?

Ventured out of London and won the Guildhall Games store championship earlier today in Dover, England. Four rounds, ten players; I went 4-0 and notched up a victory for the rebels this season :)

Top three squads:

First - Dash w/ Push the Limit, Outrdier, Heavy Laser Cannon, Kyle, Engine Upgrade; Corran w/ Veteran Instincts, Fire Control System, R2D2

Second - Whisper w/ Advanced Cloaking Device, Fire Control System, Veteran Instincts, Weapons Engineer; Howlrunner w/ Stealth Device, Determination; Academy Pilot x3

Third - Fringer w/ Heavy Laser Cannon, Outrider, Jan Ors; Han Solo w/ Push The Limit, Millenium Falcon, Lando, Kyle

Major huge props to Guildhall Games for hosting such a friendly yet professional event--definitely check them out if you're in the area--and the players there were equally and universally awesome.

For folks interested, the dice bag is significantly better than the one from regionals in 2012. Focus tokens are a slight step down, but will need to try them out to see if they pop on a board by being brighter. And the plaque is even nicer than the one from last year IMO, the blue really shines.

What is the consensus these days for Store Championships on Round times and round structure? There are only so many hours in a day that a store can be open and players can actually stick it out playing.

60 minutes over 75 minutes? Swiss rounds capped at 4 then a top 8 cut? Top 4? Just Swiss with as many as warranted by number of players, without a cut?

There seems to be a mix of the ones being held locally, here in Southern Ontario.

My purely anecdotal observation is that more events are going with 60 minutes this year; I'm not as fussed about it these days given the full win margin plus the current meta.

From the sounds of things, the kit recommends more rounds and longer, actually. I haven't seen one myself so far, but that's my own anecdotal evidence. I actually like the extra time to try and give players a chance to finish off the big ships:)

Almost all the stores in the Bay Area are doing 75 minutes as far as I know. Anything less will cause the current turret meta to end with who has the least expensive escorts (points destroyed), wins.

I believe my area will use 60 min time limits (at least we usually do) but if the Kit specifies a certain length I bet that would be used.

One trend I notice is if people have more time, they take more time, so operating with a time restriction seems to speed up play to match the time restriction

Chicagoland Dice Dojo had its Store Championships today. 19 participants, couple of drops. It was a four round swiss, 60 minute rounds. I won, yay! Dog fooding my own software, I entered it into juggler today:

the final for FCB Comics and Games in Alpharetta Georgia just started. Superdash and Corran vs Keyan, a blue, and three bandits. full lists coming later, but both of these players have played one hell of a day of X wing. 36 players in all, 6 rounds of swiss and a cut to top 8.

Engine - do you have a Cryodex file / tournament report (html) for the tourney?

we dont, but a BBZZZ list won against a 58 dash/corran

it was an incredible match

Leebo / corran won store champ in melb auz, 29 people showed up. Lots of Rebel 2 ships large ship lists. I assume organizers will post squad lists soon

I believe XWingTOMan has the cryodex for the Independence, MO (Kansas City) store championships yesterday, and I have video of the top table all day that I'll be editing and posting later this week. We had 34 players at the start, and top 4 was:

Winner

Whisper with VI, Gunner, ACD, Fire Control

Echo with VI, Recon Specialist, Sensor Jammer, ACD

Academy Tie

Second

Chewie with Luke, Predator, 3PO, Falcon

Eaden Vrill with Heavy Laser Cannon, Anti-Pursuit Lasers, Recon Specialist (I am not 100% on these last two upgrades, I know for sure it was HLC without the title though)

Top 4

Whisper with VI, Gunner, ACD, Fire Control

Echo with VI, Recon Specialist, Sensor Jammer, ACD

Top 4

Whisper with VI, Gunner, ACD, Fire Control

Echo with VI, Recon Specialist, Sensor Jammer, ACD

Are those two tops 4 lists missing an AP? Seems crazy 3 of the top 4 lists were the same (unless its a clerical error).

Not an error, both players were running 86 point lists.

Not an error, both players were running 86 point lists.

Just......wow.....

Goes to show just how screwed up a Whisper and Echo tag team list is.

Engine - do you have a Cryodex file / tournament report (html) for the tourney?

I believe the TO has a cryodex file. It will be uploaded asap. As @nikk whyte said above, the keyan rebel swarm beat super dash in the final. Boxed him in and chewed him up, and then easily cleaned up Corran. I'll see if we can get it archived. In fact, there were a number of really great match ups through the day, I'll bug the broadcaster till they are all on YouTube.

Thanks to all who tuned in!

Thanks to all who tuned in!

No buddy thank you for streaming it! Have exhausted YouTube of xwing.

Was great to watch new stuff! Keep up the good work!

TO from the FCB Store Championship here. I submitted the tournament report to the juggler website and put in all the lists. "Browse Results" seems to be broken though.

hi vyvnnase - thank you, looking into now.
