I didn't get around to doing this earlier, but here's what I have gathered from the 1/31/2015 Store Champ at Whose Turn Is It Games in Austin, TX. Unfortunately, the squads were not officially logged, so I am missing 2 players' squads.

I've never seen an Avenger Squadron pilot fielded.
Regarding Avenger Squadron Pilot's use in my winning squad:
When I set out to create my TIE Swarm for the tournament last Saturday, I wanted to essentially create a squad that was the Imperial equivalent of BBBBZ. Lots of ships to spread the damage around on, so you could rotate some out while the rest keep pounding, and several that can throw dice in volleys of 3-4 so you can punch through a Fat Han or Decimator fast but also whittle away at a Whisper/Echo build or Corran Horm + PTL + EU + R2-D2. My original designs all seemed good (Howlrunner, Backstabber, Academy, Alpha, and then the last 36 points going to either two Alphas, Alpha + Mauler w/VI, or Kir Kanos + Academy), but they all came in at 100 points - and TIE Swarms facing other swarms with PS1 ships in them really want initiative. So I finally landed on adding Swarm Tactics to Howlrunner and mixing in an Avenger and an Obsidian, giving me a PS mix of 863311 (with the chance to boost someone to an 8). That's almost the precise PS mix I used to make top 16 at Worlds in 2014 with my seven TIE Swarm (8633111), and it flies very similarly until the swarm starts to break formation after the initial engagement, so it was very easy to adapt to. Having the Alpha up front and Avenger hanging back helped to mix where my big guns were range-wise, and being able to bump to a PS8 meant I could protect my front line from Predator a bit and hopefully kill a gun before it got to shoot. And at 99 points, I had initiative in all but one game (where I didn't care about it, thankfully). In the top 8 match, I took Captain Oicunn from almost full health to 1 hull in a single volley, and in the finals I did the same to Fat Han w/C-3PO.
My one loss was to the Keyan Farlander + HLC + Opportunist build supported by Wes Jansen and Jan Ors, where Keyan rolled a six dice volley against Backstabber and got two hits and four eyeballs while stressed, then got a lucky one-shot on my alpha in the next shot. I almost came back from that, but sometimes those things happen (in hindsight, I should have rushed Keyan and taken whatever he had for me at range 1, then used my extra attack dice to take him off the board fast instead of letting that nonsense hang around popping TIE Fighters).
I didn't run into a BBBBZ list, but another reason for the Avenger was to try to finish putting the hurt on a PS2 or 1 Rebel Swarm ship before it could fire back if I had encountered a list like that.
EDIT: Oh, and unlike seven TIE Fighter swarms I have flown where even at 75 minutes games almost always go to time, at 60 minute rounds I didn't have a game go to time the entire day. I either killed with efficiency or was blown into space dust with time to spare (thankfully more of the former than the latter)

I have FINALLY gotten the results and lists for the Store Championship. This was on 2/21 - PBKW in Cornelius, NC. The event was not organized very well. They didn't use Cryodex. They had 75 minute rounds, though. No idea on the cut and thrust of each round, but I can tell you the results.

So did you guys have a rule not to run Whisper, Dash, or Han?
No. I was shocked and surprised as I expected 75% or higher to be that way. I had built my list to destroy big, turreted ships. If I had won only my games against those ships, I would've been extremely happy. I only faced one list with a big ship in it. It was Leebo. The Phantoms got me. I was happy how well the Tie Bombers did against the B-wings and Alpha Interceptors.
