Addiction checks

By hilstad, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The listing for drugs mentions chances of addiction for each drug, but the rules seem unclear on how this is handled mechanically. If a character uses an addictive drug (intentionally or otherwise) what check would they use to deal with their addiction?

It seems straight forward that Resilience would be used to resist the *effect* of the drug, but not to resist it's addictive effect. I'm not talking about the addiction Obligation, I'm talking about addiction as a result of using.

Discipline.

It seems like everyone is checking out the previous poster (who has posted the same crap on multiple forums in the last few hours). Join the reporting! [edit: previous post has since been deleted. I am not referring to 2P51! ;)]

As far as the OP, I agree with Discipline check with difficulty set by how addictive the substance and how often it is used.

Discipline to resist the pull, Resilience to mitigate the effects of overdose or withdrawal, Cool to maintain composure in the face of such things (hey man, I just need a gram, just for emergencies, you know).

And then throw some blacks at the player's rolls as he goes into the DTs. . . .
