Hello North End X-wingers!
Around the Table Gamer Pub is starting up its Monthly 2015 League on January 8th! Compete in a 3-week league that takes place every Thursday at 7:15pm sharp (2 rounds a night), with the top 5 players at the end of the league playing in a free, 2 round tournament on the last Thursday of the Month.
Not going to be in the top 5? We'll have a losers' bracket as well!
Don't like being called a loser? Start winning at X-wing!
We're going to be handing out a variety of promos to most participants, but the top player will receive EXTRA special prizes. We want this to be a casual way to build up competitive pressure leading up to our Store Championship on March 1st. And we think you'll like it.
See you soon!

Lynnwood, WA -- January 2015 X-Wing League
I saw this schedule posted on your event calendar and had been meaning to call.
I am interested in these tournaments, but unfortunately I would only be able to go every other week due to work. Would not being able to go every week conflict with your current setup? I want to play in a more organized setting but don't want to join something I wouldn't be able to commit to.
Is your Store Championship on March 1st a one time evet that I could attend, even if I can't make the previous games? Is there any prior registration required or can I just show up?
Thanks for the help.
It would be fine if you missed days, but it will hurt you in the overall standings. You won't gain any points for not being there. But if you aren't concerned with that, its a great environment to play X-wing and meet some great people. Too bad I live to far away to attend.
The Store Championship is a stand alone event and has nothing to do with league play. I might be wrong, but I do not believe there is any preregistration. Just show up with your entry fee and the squad you want to run. I'd get there a bit early though.
Yeah, the crew there is great and pretty good at teaching newer players the ropes. The 'Tis The Season tourney they ran a few weeks ago was a bit of an exception, with a $10 buy-in that included a free soda and guaranteed prize of some level ranging from Scum vouchers to any of the items in the Winter kit. The leagues are generally more casual, and there's usually people running dogfights outside of the league play as well.
Sounds like everyone answered your questions!
The League is kind of a run up to the end of month Tournaments we are running. All it does is determine who is in the 'Winners' bracket of the tournament, and almost guaranteed a prize, and who is in the 'Academy Pilot' bracket, of which only the top dude gets something wicked.
The Store Championship will be run much like our 'Tis the Season tournament in that it will be a flat $10 entry including a free non-alcoholic drink, but in this case it will be run on a Sunday afternoon and run for 5 hours (or however long it takes). There is no pre-registration and we'll run with however many players we get. Our league will be free, however, and will get enough time for about 2 rounds a night. In the past we didn't have structured pairing, but that sometimes meant players would finish their matches at different times and never actually get a 2nd round in, or would be so impatient as to start another game with themselves so that no switching of players ever occurred. So we are going to try and structure it this time.
