For the holidays my awesome players got me Dangerous Covenants, the Hired Gun source book. I've been reading through it, liking it a lot, but one piece of equipment baffles me.
The Therm-Ax (specs pg 48, write-up pg 49), is a melee weapon with +2 damage and the Burn 2 quality.
Mechanically, how does that work out? The rules for the Burn quality in the CRB (pg 155) says that when the attack is successful, the target suffers the weapon's base damage for a number of rounds equal to the weapon's burn rating.
With a base damage of +2, does a therm-ax's burn only do 2 damage a round, which is lower than the soak of almost every combat-prepared being in the galaxy? Or does the burn do damage equal to the wielder's brawn plus two, which means the stronger someone is, the more on fire they are?
Neither make a ton of sense (though the second seems a little more functional) so I thought I'd ask here.
