Hello all, im planing on host a 200 point tornimant. I have no experience hostinng a torny, i was wondering if any one has any experience with this. Thanks

If you're the only TO, don't play. If you're not the only TO, I recommend still not playing.

Know the rules and the FAQ, and have a hard copy of each handy during the tournament!

I also agree with Unfair Banana, don't play, UNLESS there is an odd number of players and make it so that your record doesn't count! It's just to either give the odd guy an opponent or simply give him a bye and keep him busy if they want to play anyhow.

If your just doing a fun tournament you can play.

The same as you can in ffg sanctioned events.

But with ffg tournament you do need a second t.o so to make calls in your games if any come up.

Still not a bad idea if your doing just a fun tournament anyway

I am not saying you "can't" play, sanctioned or otherwise, but in my tournament experience I've noticed it is best to avoid playing and being a TO at all costs!

use at least 3x6 or 4.5x4.5 or 6x6 tables. Evertything else will make for very dull games where mobility doesn't mean ANYTHING.

Have a good record sheet so you can determine scores easily

200 points, is this an Epic tournament? (200 points is the actual limit for Epic Tournaments)

I would suggest an escalation league or cut it back to 100 points, maybe 130 or 150 if you want to expand the 100 point limit that so many players find restricting.

The first 2 posts are common sense, you don't want conflicts of interest to taint your X-wing event especially if you already have a tournament package. Those prizes are for participants, sort of like the prizes at a birthday party is not for the person who is having the birthday. Be a good host and have the latest FAQ printed out on hand for review.

Also do not forget there is a ship limit. You cannot have more than 12 of the same ship type. So while the 8 Tie Fighter swarm is perfectly fine in 100 point standard, the 16 Tie Fighter Swarm is NOT permitted in a 200 point match. Again since you have the point limit so high you might want to look into competitive epic tournament rules. here is a link.

Note: there are 2 different squad building rules here. 1 for regular Epic and one for Tournament Epic. Read the rules carefully, there is a 3 epic point limit on tournaments not 5 as with a regular epic game.

Thanks all great help, i was not planing on making it an epic game, but i will use the ship limit of 12 small ships and 6 large ships. I was thinking 90 min games.

Also, I would recommend getting the Tournament software from A Few Maneuvers, Cyprodex (that is probably not exactly the name but something like that). It will very much help in running any Tournament. Sorry, I don't have the URL with me right now.
