Tekken 6. Characters Revealed. Woot!

By Rockstar2, in UFS General Discussion

I'm sure one day they'll make Bob. We don't really have that many fat fighters, and I'm sure Capcom will give them access to SF4 characters, namely Rufus.

It's funny that people talk about how Tekken players want Heihachi gone because of how old he is and no longer a focal part of the story.

Most Tekken players don't care about the story.

A couple things...

1) I completely forgot about Soiree when i posted this. My initial thought was how horrible DeeJay of SF fame has been in UFS. TBH, Soiree certainly has his place in UFS (as well as Arcade fighters in gen), but i'm interested in seeing how they make Capoera tekken-stylz in UFS. One of the most amazing thing about Eddy and Christie is how their moves 'link' (or 'chain') in Tekken, and i'm interested in seeing if FFG replicates that feel. So, will she be an amazing Combo oriented character, where her attacks just link one after the other? Will she be a 6 or 7hs character? etc..etc..

2) Lucky for me, i worship a god that raises the dead, so bring it on! gran_risa.gif

I am.

Why in God's name wasn't Double Mittwoch at least multiple:1? He hits them twice! If it was it might have seen play. Would've sold more of the expansion too, since I believe sales for that one were pretty underwhelming.

Dee Jay needs to be re-released, Dread Carnival and it's backward-footed shenanigans was awesome.

Also:

Christie had to be remade due to power issues? Where was this announced?

Dee Jay isn't a capoeirista; he's a kickboxer. Also, *Dee Jay* was done quite well.

Soiree was cool, as was Shooting Capoera, but I'm not it really went to the true extent the capoeira could go to.

And Christie ought to be a 7/18 or so.

Let's be honest, you played DeeJay (and i don't mean you in particular, just 'you' in general, as in anyone) to play Dread Carnival, which was a Monster attack for its time. And, yea, i remember him being a kickboxer. I also remember a lot of artwork with him doing kicks where he's balancing on one hand that is eerily reminiscent of Capoera, and can be misleading.

Soiree is cool, just not played a whole heckuva lot. His Shooting Capoera, however, is! And, i still don't believe FFG has yet captured the feel of a Capoerista in UFS as of yet. My initial post was my stating my hope that with Christie they do!

Well, whether or not you played Dee Jay for Dread Carnival, *Dee Jay* had the ever-lovely 7/23 stats and the ability to either add 2 kicks from his card pool to his momentum (clearing the way for dread carnival) or give his attack one helluva damage pump in his E.

Soiree is good, and was busted awesome when Chester's was around. Sharing 2 symbols with Aquakinesis never hurts, and he's a Pretty Popular Person I herd. However, the only true strike against Soiree is that Capoera can be ran in other characters, at which point he almost looks pointless.

But he isn't, and anybody who has built Soiree knows this. He readies foundations faster, and doesn't commit himself like SC.

I haven't designed my Christie yet, and I don't want to make her an amalgamation of Dee Jay and Soiree (adding kicks to momentum + readying foundations). I think it'd be something about playing kicks from places other than the hand to accomodate the fact that capoeira is a dance fighting style where kicks can fly from all over.

Oh lawl. Dee Jay, in all forms, was a complete joke.

Bleh, I never used him. But hey, props be to Dread Carnival. Yet another shining testament to how a character-only can make a garbage character somewhat useful.

Well if the capoeira characters they have had so far suck, then they most definitely have captured the feel of capoeira. It's a beautiful and stylish martial art, but it's effectiveness in a fight is extremely limited. Here is an example of a good capoeira practitioner vs. a mediocre mma fighter. The mma fighter kept his hands down the whole fight, and was asking to be ko'd, and still won.

who is the box topper promo and it better be panda if he is in T6 and if not someone will pay. demonio.gif

lengua.gif Well, i guess if you're talking about real-world martial arts, then yea, Capoera is a beautiful art form that isn't as effective in application when standing next to say Thai Boxing, or JKD.

But UFS isn't about mundane fighting arts. We're talking about 4-color cinematic anime stylez combat arts where fighters are throwing chi-based Hadoken's around like they're goin' outta style', man! gran_risa.gif I want my Capoera to be super-powered!!! LOLZ.

Hata was playing Kazuya Paul, and a new SW char in today's team nationals. I was asked not to reveal anything, but all 3 are gonna see tourny play upon release. Very well done and faithful to thier ingame versions.

And now I want to know about the shadowar character more then the tekken characters

MMA is a disgrace to all REAL martial arts =/

Interesting statement. How so?

Because MMA is a bull term and isn't even really a fighting style. Fans may say, "well, they take the best of boxing, muay thai, wrestling, brazilian jyujyutsu, etc etc, and make one fighting style." The problem is, martial arts truly weren't meant to be borrowed from, and MMA has gone from potentially being a respected martial art to nothing more than a piss-n'-vinegar tough guy flashy sport.

Martial arts are developed and changed to help accomodate their style that was created and has been carried for generations. MMA has not TRULY been around for generations. In fact, it's only really been popular for 16 years.

Not to mention, UFC was created to basically be The Deadliest Warrior, except acted out, not just amalgamated BS some computer nerd plugged in. However, UFC has drifted away from sumo vs lucha, or boxing vs capoeira, into MMA vs MMA.

One day I hope to teach martial arts, and I have nothing but respect for real martial arts. Whether it be ones with a distinctive flow like boxing or savate, or ones with a certain amount of focus and balance like xing yi or aikido, I love anything that has a true purpose. Not this man-made macho man BS.

Randy Coutre's true purpose is to ruin your day.

Also, Royce Gracie.

Brock Lesnar's true purpose is to ruin Randy Couture's day. Also Vince McMahon due to winning a friggin' lawsuit.

But that is a conversation best left to Chubbs and Shane.

So a Tekken 6 set and not a single new character to the series is used as a character in the initial set, kind of a slap in the face of Tekken, could do without Christie to use Miguel or something. More sets that I will just buy singles online of instead of buying boxes.

Yeah, I said this earlier, but everyone went off on off-topic style vidgame and mma tangents.

I totally agree, though. I mean, I'm pretty happy with any Tekken characters, but I was most excited about getting my hands on a few new ones.

Who gives a **** about the new Tekken characters?

This is the premier set! This is the only time they're going to get to really flaunt what they can with Tekken, and they need a cast that is well-known, fan-based, and all playable-upon-release.

From what I hear, they've remained true to this. Although logically it makes sense, "Hey, Tekken 6 set, why not the new characters?", but it's also the first Tekken expansion.

And yes, my blood boils when I think about how Jin is not a part of this set.

If they were going for big name Tekken characters, then why the hell did they choose Christie? Who gives a crap, where are the really big names (outside of the 3 good characters they actually used), oh yeah, nowhere to be found, and now that we are down to 1 set per release, we have no hope of seeing more for another year, but we are gonna get another SC4 set... if you are gonna go to 1 set per release, then a lisence should not be used more than once a year.
