Built a new smuggler deck trying to build a ds deck to match it

By stocke2, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Strategy

I threw together some smuggler cards i thought would work well together and they did really well and it owned my navy deck.

Built a sith deck that takes the force and locks it down pretty good with force wraiths and, Mara Jade and the Emperor. So i tuned my smugglers a bit.

Now my smugglers just own my dark side decks 98% of the time, i even let my 9 year old play that deck and he kicked my butt over and over, i just couldn't stop it.

I even took a turn 2 win with it once or twice and turn 3 many times. Wanted to see if anyone has ideas on how to counter it, maybe I'm just not as good building the dark side decks.

The trick to defeating a Freeholders deck, and this is pretty difficult for a Sith deck to do, is to not keep extra cards in your hand. This means you have to use relatively cheap units rather than sitting on Vader/Palpatine/Mara, holding the Force, and using events to pick apart the opponent's board. I think the best Dark Side deck for this matchup is probably a TIE swarm deck - Kuat Reinforcements gets extra cards out of your hand, all of your units are cost 3 or lower so you can reliably defend against Sleuth Scouts or Blockade Runner, and Death from Above and Talon Roll turn even a lowly TIE Fighter into a credible threat.

I rarely use the freeholders... This sith deck can empty it's hand easily usually... Its the sleuth scouts, blockade runners, anoat sector obj, and raise the stakes obj that do it.

I had 2x anoat sector and 1 raise the stakes as my starting objectives played 2 scouts in first round took 2 objectives... Sith was able to take them out in his turn... But i drew a third and took a third planet in the second round... Doesn't usually go that quick, but can be really nasty fast

I may try a tie deck. My imperial deck right now uses bigger ships and takes out your objectives to pump the dial quick, and i agree kuat is nice for getting star destroyers out too.

It used to eat my old smuggler deck better than 50% of the time but they were close at least

oh yeah a tie deck competely shuts it down, way too easily, it's not even a fight
