Blinded Pilot, Keyan, and Stress

By emmjay, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Came into a situation and would like some clarification. I had Blinded Pilot (the next time you attack, do not roll any attack dice) on Keyan Farlander (When attacking, you may remove 1 stress token to change all of your (focus) to (hit). Keyan had a stress token on him. Now, I know that you can change a "nothing" result IE remove the stress token even if you roll no (focus) during a normal attack.

The question becomes - can you remove the stress token (in the above situation with blinded pilot) even if you roll no attack dice - knowing that you can change a nothing to a nothing????

Check Garven Dreis' FAQ entry.
The answer is "0 is a number of dice you can alter".

If Farlander has a shot, even if he has no dice to shoot with, he can still shed the stress.

You still have to have a legal target for him. You can't just shoot "empty" space. So you would go through the steps of the Combat phase as normal, except you have "0" attack dice. The defender should roll his defense dice as normal in case there's any interaction with his roll from an ability or whatever.
