He used to be able to use it to cancel the crit, but the most recent FAQ changed it so that he couldn't. Basically, the added Evade from the token is still considered to be a dice result and thus cannot cancel the Crit from Ten.

Well Ten would still have to manage to get Whisper in arc and then roll a crit on that attack (possibly via Marksmanship).

Perhaps you should look at Nera Dantels with Flechette Torpedoes to give you a turret that will stress the Phantom even if you miss. A stressed phantom is an unhappy phantom.
