N'Dru Shulak

By Cununculus, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Most Wanted and very likely will add a Star Viper.

In combination with what I can use from my collection below, what would you add to a fully loaded N'Dru to get 100 points?

N'Dru Shulak - 17

VI - 1 (when flying alone shooting first is a must)

Inertial Dampeners - 1 (for the surprising 0 move)

Cluster Missiles - 4 (2x4 dice!)

Hull Upgrade - 3 ( give the loner more soaking ability)

Total - 26

I could change the HU for an engine upgrade making the total 27. But I wonder how long he will survive then.

A dressed down version is.

N'Dru Shulak - 17

VI - 1

Inertial Dampeners - 1

HU - 3

Total - 22 points, for PS 9 ship with the same hitpoints, defense and firepower (if alone) of a rookie x-wing

Lone wolf is a better add IMO for N'Dru.

For other ships to fill out the list, I would recommend IG2000 or Firesprays, they're faster than smaller ships and you'll field fewer of them. That will allow you to use N'Dru's ability more often.

How about:

N'Dru

VI

Mandalorian Mercenary, Predator Recon Spec x2

I posted this in response to a list posted by someone else. I think it could be strong list against the current meta and seems to fit the bill of what you are looking for.

N'Dru Suhlak (17)

Lone Wolf (2)

Dead Man's Switch (2)

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Recon Specialist (3)

Inertial Dampeners (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Kavil (24)

Blaster Turret (4)

R4 Agromech (2)

Total: 99

This gives you a PS10 Fett that has some ability to react to your opponent's moves, either by boosting or by hitting the Inertial Dampeners and not moving. The Recon Specialist crew works great to enhance the durability of Firesprays and if Fett is getting rerolls for having targets in range one having a focus for offense and one defense will help get the most of them.

I tossed a Deadman's switch on N'Dru since you'll be doing everything you can to keep the rest of your crew away from him and he is going to likely be the first target since he's the easiest thing to burn down. The Deadman's switch might buy him an extra round or two if your opponent switches targets to keep him from dealing damage to a couple of ships. Going with a Hot Shot Blaster instead gives him an option for dealing damage outside of his arc as well.

Thanks guys (I mean that). Though..., i don't have a firespray or lone wolf. The idea was to work with what I have plus most wanted and a star viper. Though I like the concept I won't buy several IG2000's to make it work.

Oh sorry! Didn't see your squad list in your signature. Lemme think on that and get back to you.

Ok, finally getting to work on this using what you've listed that you own.

So with what you've got I've cooked up a list. It's a first draft and may need some tweaking:

N'Dru

Vet Instincts

Inertial Dampeners

Kavil

Determination

Blaster Turret

R4 Aggromech

Palob Godali

Opportunist

Blaster turret

K4 Security Droid

Moldy Crow

Kaa'To Leeachos

VI

N'Dru starts opposite board, and serves as a flanker or distractor.

The rest fly in loose formation two of them turrets, one a focus factory and hoarder and another a focus thief.

N'Dru could roll 4 attack at range 1

Kavil could roll 4 attack if out of arc

Palob is a beast at up to 4 dice with focus steals And TLs

Kaa'To Is cheap and can use excess focus tokens from Palob

Anyway, like I said it's not perfect but it's a start. Seems like the star viper really tends to want other ships at range one with it kind of negating N'Dru unless you keep him far far away purposefully.

Seriously, thanks a lot! I really like the Palob build and Determination on Kavil I had not considered. Nice!
