More Newbie Questions

By krejaton, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

We are 3 quests into our first campaign. My teen daughter's won First Blood, I won Masquerade Ball (yay relic!) and they just won Fat Goblin. More importantly, we were all having a great time and they were squealing for more--not an easy thing to get from older teens!

We had a few question of minor questions we had after playing Fat Goblin:

* When encounter 2 happens, does the necromancer need to reanimate his familiar again or is it considered to still be around following encounter 1?

* When a hero drops, his health and stamina is maxed. When he stands up, he gets to roll 2 red power dice and restore the hearts showing and stamina equal to the surges showing...but what if there are no surges? Can he stand up or is he back down?

* Goblins have scamper, can the scamper while carrying a bundle of crops?

* This one my girls wanted me to ask but I think the answer is obvious...can you grab a search token if a monster stands on top of it?

The familiar needs to be reanimated every encounter, it does not carry over.

With no surges, he gets back up with all of the health recovered from the roll, but he's still at his fatigue maximum and has no stamina available.

Goblins can scamper always unless the quest rulebook says they can't. An example of this would be the first quest in the Labyrinth of Ruin Campaign, although that's the only example I can think of.

Yes, you can always search a token as long as you are adjacent to it or in the same space as it. A monster standing on top of it does not in any way prevent the search. It might however murder you on the next turn.

Thank you, Whitewing, I appreciate you sharing from your knowledge!

For added fun, the OL can play Mimic on the treasure (If he's playing basic II) making the treasure run away and leaving the hero with two monsters to deal with.

(Of course, once the "mimic" is dealt with, heros get the treasure)

Hi, another noobie, we are 6 encounters in and the hero are getting absolutely trashed, only won 1 and some are not even close. Can anyone suggest a common overlooked rule that maybe we are doing wrong?

How about reinforcements? When the overlord places it , does that figure get its 2 actions as well?

Reinforcements get actions only if they are placed at the start of your turn or during your turn, but not at the end of your turn.

If you are 6 encounters in, turning it around will be extremely difficult and almost improbable.

I suggest you make an thread detailing what your players as a regular tactic, so that people can help you. It's impossible to determine if you are not using rules correctly if we don't know how you play and I won't go into a detailed recitation of common hero tactics in this thread.
