Need some clarifications about setting up an official event

By BrooklynMike, in CoC General Discussion

I just got my adventure league pack and want to start a league at one of my venues. Two problems:

1) The rules limit the decks to use, referring to them by AP numbers... I can't find any reference on the FFG site that matches AP numbers to deck names and card numbers. So, players can add AP 7... I have no idea what deck that is. The spoiler lists I can find only go up to AP 6. Anyone able to point me to the information i need?

2) The rules are for an "Adventure League" but on the Organized Play web site there is no "Adventure League" on the event type drop down. This makes it hard to register it on the site. Is Adventure League intended as an informal competition, not a 'real' tournament?

Thanks for any pointers you can offer.

3) Speaking of real tournaments, I don't find the rules and guidelines for tournament play, how to set up the various types of event types, etc. anywhere. I'm sure I'm overlooking it, can you point me to it?

Summons of the Deep

"Ultimately, we want to give LCG Organized Play the opportunity to grow and flourish and become the program that players are willing to make it, with landmark events such as ChiCon and the tournaments at Castle Stahleck being the ideal “State of the OP.” We feel that opening up the OP program at the local level, and letting it grow from there, is the first step towards making this goal a reality. Correct. It's not so much a tourney, as a 'special rules' format.

If you need more help, or want to give feedback on creating a tournament, I'd advise you to contact Nate about it:

"To this end, we’re asking ourselves and our fans what players (and particularly, LCG players) might want out of an organized play program, what it might take to get a gaming group who are into it as a casual “beer & pretzels” endeavor to participate in organized play, and what it might take to get a local group who play once a month at their game store to consider traveling for a Regional or National championship. If you’re a player (new or old), servitor, or store owner, and you have any thoughts on these topics, feel free to contact me directly ([email protected]). We are committed to gaining a better understanding of our LCG audience, and putting together the best possible OP program for the CoC LCG."

Or, as GlaDOS put it: "Thank you for helping us help you help us all"

Marius, as usual, I appreciate the expert feedback. So, my league is not an official 'tournament' event, and I don't register it. I will contact Nate and see if I can get the rest of the information I need.

Just curious. I sent in my request for, uh, Servitor status?, at my FLGS. How long did it take Fantasy Flight to send you back anything giving you a yes or no on hosting tournaments?

**Edit**

Nevermind, I logged into the Organized play site and saw I've been approved. Doh! preocupado.gif
