Skirmish Maps

By Tzaziki2Mann, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hi there,

i just cant find the skirmish maps. There is an example of the Mos Eisley Outskirts and i used this so far. But where can i find the other maps?

greetings

The other skirmish maps are included with the Luke and Vader packs. They are on the 2 papers in the pack that list the components.

Which ones come with the Luke and Vader packs? The only map I can see is the Mos Eisley one on the back of the Skirmish Guide with the two mission Get to The Ship and Smuggled Goods...

As mentioned above: the two only two (ATM) skirmish maps came with the Luke and Vader "expansion" included in the core set. It is (or was if you tossed them out) the two foldout pamphlet maps/notes

Hmmmm... I have no recollection of those pamphlets. Could you do me a favour and list the cards that also came with the Vader and Luke packs so I can check I have those as well. It was all a blur when I unpacked the box!

For starters you can check if you have the 4 extra skirmish mission cards from the two packs and the agenda cards that came with Vader. I think all the cards that came with them are labeled at the bottom with either the expansion name or icon (non Stormtrooper)

You can see/read most of Luke's card on my picture

Found them! Still in the bag on my display cabinet. Phew :D

Congrats. I did an overly anal/OCD inventory of all the stuff when I initially unpacked the stuff

I hope they release some skirmish expansions, because even the skirmish maps feel more like dungeon crawl single scenarios than a tactical skirmish.

I'd like

  • Bigger maps with a layout, with different lanes of movement.
  • A more open environment
  • Missions with objectives like CTF, Domination etc.
  • Reinforcement rules for skirmish
  • Terrain, structures, buildings tokens for playing in an open outdoors environment.

It sounds like what you are really looking for is Warhammer 40k. I seriously doubt FFG will do most, if any, of these. It would unnecessarily extend the amount of time it takes to play, which right now is currently in a nice 1 hour time frame that they can run tournaments in easily. Missions will obviously be added and may be similar to what you are looking for, but I would expect it will be a while, if ever, before we see bigger/more open maps, or reinforcement rules since if they wanted this it would have been there from the start. I would be shocked if new tiles were not added in the next year or so though, but I think the skirmish map sizes will stay mostly the same.

New skirmish maps and missions are coming with the miniature expansions.

No I don't want 40K. I don't like true minautures gaming. I am not talking about massive maps... just bigger with more options for moving and attacking. I think 50 point games and maps that are 150% size would be quite nice.

Several of the developers on this are former GW designers / testers. As a side note - modern 40k is nothing like the older 80's and 90's stuff which Imperial Assault is very similar to.

It's just the whole painting, assembling, terrain, measuring distance... fiddly and long winded. I like that IA is quick and fun :-)
