Autothruster test, gimme some builds.

So im going to enlist some shmuck to help me do some serious testing of Autothrusters this weekend. I know what interceptors i'm taking and trying out. Can i get some turret build suggestions? I'm looking for specific/popular builds.

I'll use some a-wings as well for testing, probably some greens w/ PTL/OM, Tycho and Jake, and Arvel+Intimidation for the lulz.

Fel and Jax with push, stealth, and auto thrusters. With dark curse+stealth and an Academy pilot. Pretty much always focus evade with the it's and you'll beat all those lists most the time except a gunner Vader rebel captive decimator.

Just look at C-3PO and tell me how it is. Does almost the same thing without the guess work and good with more green dice.

You could also attempt a proxy of IG-2000 using auto thrusters. We have the stat lines for it, just not the pilot abilities

Everyone is talking about Autothrusters and how it will save the Interceptors from the evil of Fat Han but many people are forgetting one little thing.

Okay not so little...

TIE SWARMS. Autothrusters will do very little against Tie Swarms and they are still a big part of the game.

So don't just build against the Big Bad Fat Han or Should be Outlawed Outrider Dash HLC (joking on the outlaw part). Build to encounter Whisper (who will care less about your autothrusters) to Encounter the XB lists ( :P ) to encounter the swarm (Resistance is futile) as well as to encounter the Big Bad Turrets.

Yeah...forgot about that part... Lol.just use a YT dial for the time being. I would put money on the idea that it will have 1 turns given its lack of turret. Beyond that no idea ( apart from the obvious segnor loops)

This is simply a big test to see how well various interceptor pilots/builds will fare against the huge variety of turret we're about to see, and maybe give an idea of how well you can expect to fare against them with Fel/Carnor/Turr/RGP. Like say, how badly will Palob w/Autoblaster gimp Fel? Exactly how long will Autothruster help you survive against HLC? How long against Mangler? (i'm not calling it Mango, get out of here) What about Oicunn with Rebel Captive ruining your day? Sure i can throw dice around, but we already have those numbers somewhere in one of the math threads. Im going to spend a cpl hours at least hammering away and get us some idea of what we're looking at.

I need pure offense, pure defense, in-between, gimme them builds people!

I intend on running this or variations imif this. It's not anall turret list but should be quite good.

There is plenty of room to get into range 3 for autothrusters to kick in, if you are flying your interceptors as hit and run instead of trying to knife fight (which against a Tie swarm, could result on unnecessarily bumping yourself). And it's not like 3 regular interceptors are bad against swarms to be honest, specially with Jax around for action denial.

Fly against everything you can, not only turrets. Phantom builds, specially those withouth a deci will represent a problem still, i would start from there.

Yes Phantoms are strong but Autothrusters will not change a lot in that matchup, except that you probably switch targeting computers out fir them, which arguably worsens the matchup vs Phantoms.

Why will nobody give him turret lists like he asked them?

Testing for range 3 won't help, mainly because we know that you WILL get those evades. Rolling 3-4 greens means you'll get at least one blank dice. And if you're a pro at keeping your enemies at R3 constantly, please, teach me your ways.

I want to get some idea of how good Autothrusters will be against turrets. I don't run large based ships except the shuttle, so i don't pay very close attention to all the builds, just the top tier. So im asking for some common builds.

Chiraneau + Predator + Ysanne + Gunner + Rebel Captive (61pts)

Whisper + Veteran Instinct + Advanced Cloaking Device + Tactician (39pts)

Play those Interceptors at their own game with Whisper and stress them a lot so they can't PtL every turn. Also make them pay for having no shield with Chiraneau ability.

So i went ahead and rolled a @$^& ton of dice. (yay insomnia)

Initial tests under R1 conditions for Han/Gunner vs Fel shows that Fel will dominate Han outside of the rare 3 blank dice roll. Even then hes getting 2 Evades(Token+AT) and 1 from dice so hes taking at most one damage on really bad rolls.

Decimator w/Predator/Gunner suffers about the same as Han, outside of R1 they simply don't stand a chance.

Fel is also immune to Mangler Outrider. Like, not even close. Went ahead and did rolls, had one bad one out of 20 where i rolled 4 blanks against 2 hits and the crit.

HLC Outrider not quite as good. Fel takes a hit around %40 of the time, but then hes in the donut hole so it evens out.

Ywings and Hwks will get destroyed.



My current take away is if you're not rolling 4 dice, you are BONED turret vs AT. Might see much more Dash/Han and Jan play on rebel side, just to spike dice up high enough to punch through the safety net.
Have yet to factor in action loss due to 2xstress on interceptors. Will still get actual gameplay in tomorrow.

This is exactly my experience.

I found that stealth device was worth it's weight in gold. With auto and stealth fel will simply outlive Han 1v1. The king is dead.

For decimators vader is going to be a much more required upgrade now against stealth and whisper as always.

RAC decimator with vi and engine may become a viable choice.

Initiative bid is really useful for blocking up swarms. One of the bad match ups.

I think the key thing is to make sure your escort can scare Fel/Jax. Corran is pretty popular in my area as a escort for Dash, and those FCS powered doubletaps are scary even for Fel.

Jax absolutely wrecks Horn's tank, though, and limits the effectiveness of attacks. In a simple joust, Jax laughs at the double-tap thanks to Autothrusters, at range 1 he denies focus/evade and makes Horn dead meat. Range 2 should be avoidable.
